JCW Coupé wait time

Hey Folks,

I just place my order for a JCW Coupe this saturday and as you can imagine I'm pretty excited. According to my MA, delivery time from start to finish on all models has been about 6-8 weeks to my dealer with the occasional 5 week blitz. I will be the first and only JCW Coupe to be ordered from this dealer so far. I'm trying to get a handle on how long I might be waiting to take charge of my car. Obviously I know there can be many variables but any insight you guys might have would be great!

Time to start the countdown. Thanks in advance!

I would tend to believe the timeframe your MA gives you. They should know better than anyone for their particular dealership.

FWIW both dealers I visited in the DC area also quoted me 6-8 weeks. And it appears that my car should be pretty much right on that schedule or a little bit ahead of it. It will help if you are the first order at your dealer since they probably have an order in the queue that you are taking over with your car.

As Glenna said, whether or not you got one of the dealers inventory production slots makes a big difference. If you did and it's a good one, it could go into production literally days after you ordered it. Another big variable is how long it waits for a ship (and where you live). The ships to the West Coast only leave every 12 days so if you just miss one, there's almost two weeks right there sitting on the dock. I got lucky. My car got to the port on 11/10 and was loaded on the ship that night and the ship left the next day. My total time from order to sailing was 18 days and that's pretty quick. Heck the boat ride to CA is longer than that (20 days).

Mine last year about this time took 6 weeks which was amazing! Timing was good as they were doing a run of JCW's. Tracking the car was very cool and fun. Loved following the ship with Sat., radar and 6 hour reports. From order to build completion
was something like 10 days! I ordered a GM product that was build 30 miles down the road and it took them 9 Months! With all the tracking it seemed like forever on the MINI, LOL. Enjoy the process it was fun. Great support here while you wait for sure.

My dealer had a slot for week 44 for my Coupe S. I ordered on Sept. 28th. Production was pushed back to week 45, then to week 46 and now week 47. Who knows when I will see it. I qualified for the $750 discount for Motortober BUT it has to be delivered by Jan. 3rd. I sure hope it gets here in time.

Ordered 10/22 which was a Saturday. Order was actually placed on 10/24. I was notified that I was scheduled for production Coupe S on 11/10 with a completion date of 11/18. My MA also stated 6 to 8 weeks. I am on schedule to be at the end of the 6th middle of the 7th week. The hardest part so far has been going from on order to scheduled for production just shy of three weeks...

Ordered on 8/8 and still waiting for mine. But later orders seemed to go into production quicker. If you get an existing slot, it can be faster.

Thanks for the replies folks! According to my dealer they are allocated one JCW Coupe (slot I suppose) and I got it, but I need to clarify that with them and find out exactly what that means. It'll be the first JCW Coupe ordered from that dealer with the next nearest dealer being two plus hours away. I'm hoping this means my car won't be sitting in the "on order" section for very long. This dealership and my MA are great to work with and have been nothing but helpful.

I placed the order with the MA late on Sat. so he won't have an order production number for me till tomorrow (mon.). Hopefully my situation is a good one as I really have no idea. Thanks again for everyones input!!
