JCW Stage 1 kit produces rough idle/rattles

I had the JCW kit installed for a month now, and sometimes wish I had never taken the plunge. I had a nice Clubman S that would have probably meet all my needs, but no I had the need for speed. Now when I put in Drive and sit at a stop light the car idles extremely rough and it has a noticeable vibration. Put it in Neutral and that goes away. I do not recall that being the case before the Stage 1 kit. If I try to take advantage of this new found power and step on it , there is a very distinctive rattle, almost like something is loose, the whole time I am on the gas.

This can not be normal with the CW kit could it?
If it is I want the darn thing off and placed back to an "S"

Those of you that have had the kit installed on your Clubman, Do you experience any of these symptoms?

Thanks for your feedback

Spencer

Sounds like something is not right. Did the dealer do the install? If so take it back and have them experience the problem for themselves and fix it right.

The JCW Kits for the 2nd Gen's are pretty basic. Same upper cylinder heads, just a dfferent air intake and exhaust, then some DME tweaking.

What you describe doesn't really sound like anything mechanical which was modified unless a sensor was not hooked back up into place ?

Drop by your dealer and have them check it out.

No issues here either. Actually AFTER the JCW stage 1, the engine actually runs smoother and doesn't have that typical mini "tick, tick tick" sound

JCW Stage one kit on mine for a few months now and it idles smoother than it did before. No odd noises. Very happy with the kit.

I should have mentioned this was only with the SPEED button pushed. Otherwise It idles fine. Are either of you using that button as well?

If you mean the sport button that's the first thing that gets pushed after starting the engine. It ALWAYS on.

Just reread your post and noticed yours is an automatic, mines a manual. so maybe something to do with the programming for the auto?
