Carsdirect.com

Hi guys! Just wondering if anyone has had any experience buying a countryman or any mini from carsdirect.com? Also, does anyone know if they can't find a car with the options you want, can you/they custom order it from mini?
Thanks!

You can order the CM anyway you want direct from Mini.

Why go through a 3rd party?

The price listed is lower than what the dealer quoted me, and I don't have to haggle...

In my part of the world, I have four MINI dealers within 100 miles. Of those, none were willing to discount a CM4 below MSRP and one was well above it. I sought quotes from several alternative sources - Amex, Costco, etc. While they offered below-MSRP quotes, none of the dealers would honor those deals.

CarsDirect would conclude a transaction with a local dealer at the discounted price - the only credible source of a significant discount.

As it happened, I was able to use the MINI Rocks the Rivals discount in a way that wouldn't work with CarsDirect and made a different ultimate deal. If I hadn't made that arrangement, I would probably have done the deal, configured exactly as I wanted it, with CarsDirect.

Then I guess the question remains will they order for you what you want if they can't find one sitting somewhere?

I can speak to this. You can give them the printout of your selected options, and they will order it exactly as working directly with an MA.

Thanks guys for all of the input, I will try talking to the dealers to see if any of them can match/beat the carsdirect price, but I too live in the SF Bay area ghamma, so I'm betting the dealerships around me are the same ones that wouldn't give you any lower than MSRP. If you don't mind my asking, which dealer did you end up getting your mini from and did you custom order it, or go with something off the lot???

I ended up custom ordering my CM4 from Mini of Stevens Creek.
