Service manual

Wife wants a CM, and since I have alot of vehicles I do the routine (and not so routine) servicing on them. I did a search regarding service manuals for the CM and have come up empty.

Are service manuals available from Mini for these vehicles? I had a heck of a time obtaining a service manual for the 2010 Porsche Cayenne, but finally found one after 6 months.

Thanks.

I have looked for Countryman Service Manual also, with no luck. I too would like to know if there is one available somewhere?

I did find this, http://www.amazon.com/MINI-Cooper-R5.../dp/0837616719 , which I'm sure would cover most engine work since it's the same.

I am sure that would do in a pinch, but really want one for the Countryman.

Bentley Publishing (one of the premier manual publishers) has a placemark for one though the detail listings are very generic. I would expect them to be one of the first to publish for the Countryman. I've always used their manuals and find them very complete.

I just purchased a used 2012 Countryman S All4 this week and as a serious DIYer I have been searching for a service manual for it. Thus far the only one I have found is the online Mitchell1 DIY Guide, which is a subscription based service. For $16.99 for a month or $25.99 for a year, I figured it was worth the gamble. I went ahead and jumped right into the $25.99 subscription and once I started wading though it I had mixed emotions.

The Mitchell1 system has 4 components:

1. Repair: This section looked promising, but once I started going through it, I found it to be somewhat incomplete and once I get into specific sections, I found that they were specifically for the R55, R56 and R57, as opposed to the R60, which I subscribed to. Overall though I think there is enough commonality to make this worthwhile, until a better option arrives.

2. Technical Service Bulletins: 168 (Yikes!) current TSBs are in there with complete text for each.

3. Maintenance: This section lists the service intervals and, for each, details what is done at that interval. It unfortunately does not include the how-to for any of the items though. There is a section under "Repair" for maintenance, which one would assume would include the how-to for each maintenance item, but it actually only includes the cabin air filter replacement procedure and the maintenance service light reset procedures.

4.Estimator: This section is really just for the repair shops, listing the time required for various repairs and the skill level required.

any luck?

reviving this old thread.
Has anyone been able to find a repair manual for All4 specific things?
I have a 2012 CM All4 that I need to remove transfer case and would like some actual instructions instead of just winging it....
Would the current online Mitchell have the info?

The definitive source of information is the BMW service site that dealers and repair shops use: https://www.minitis.com/. It is a subscription service ($30 for 1 day access) but you can download or print what you need during that time.

I have Mitchell1 DIY and it is truly awful. Yes it calls out the CM All4 specifically but there is nothing in there for the car. There is barely anything in there even for the N18 engine. All it's good for is looking up TSB's. Save your money

Perhaps befriend a technician or parts associate at your local dealer?

I've worked a couple of dealerships and it wasn't uncommon to help customers (especially those buying parts!) with service information. Customers are more likely to buy parts from dealers able to offer up wiring diagrams, repair instructions, and torque specs. Most aftermarket factory information sources (especially on newer vehicles) aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Very generalized and frustrating to use.

Has anyone used this yet? Is it possible to download and save the entire manual? Wiring diagrams? Is it worth it? What format can you save them in? PDF?

How are any of you changing brakes, etc, without the service manual? I'd like to remove calipers for paint, but don't know the torque specs to put them back on. Would the values from a 08 clubman work? I doubt it.

I just changed my brake pads and the caliper bolt torque spec for a 2012 Countryman SAll4 is 26 ft. lbs. for both front and rear. I suggest putting blue thread locker on the bolts as that is how they were done at the factory. As for the shop and repair manuals, I haven't been able to find a good one either. I purchased the repairsurge.com manual subscription online for $19.99/year and it is practically useless, but I did get the caliper bolt torque specification.

Trying one more time since it has been a few years since the last post.

Anyone know of a service manual for an R60? 2013 Countryman S All4?

Seems like Haynes or Chiltons would have made something by now, The Countryman isn't exactly new anymore.

I have the same vehicle in the JCW version but no service manual. The dealer told me they don't even use them anymore, just the electronic service specs that MINI sends them. Generally I've been using the wing-it method...though I do the oil changes at 10 000kms instead of the 15 000kms the on-board computer tells me. Other stuff gets done as it makes a problem known, or when I'm doing something nearby and figure it's time (like the tensioner when I was replacing the belt).

I've been using the Mitchell online one, and like others have commented, it's fairly good but could use some better repair info. The specs and exploded diagrams are the best features. There's no "do this service at these intervals" list. I'm not sure Haynes or Chilton would do any better, given my experience with them.

Yeah...Don't need all the service interval stuff. I need the "how do I take apart the rear suspension" and "what are the torque specs for the bolts on the turbo" type info. Exploded diagrams and specs would be what I am looking for but internet is rather weak in my garage and I would rather have a book in there and not a computer. I guess I'm just a dinosaur. Lol
