Have you found any other Countryman communities?

Are there any other CM forums out there on the internets, or is this the epicenter of all things Countryman?

I only ask because this section is a little slow-moving relative to some, and I don't feel like most of the other sections of NAM really apply to our rather unique cars (especially those of us who are CM4 owners)...

I don't mean to be elitist about it at all (in fact, I've waved at 50+ of those 'little' MINIs since getting Sir Stirling and not ONE has waved back!) but I don't see much else going on discussing these cars specifically.

There are a lot of subtle nuances of systems and technologies (mostly specific to the All4 system and traction/yaw/braking systems) that I'd like to understand better, but I don't seem to see much of anyone tinkering on these yet (other than cosmetic stuff).

So... anyone?

Cheers,
Tad

Slow? Those would be the "justa" CMs. Us S people are a little quicker.

The CM doesn't have much of an audience yet. How many have you seen in the wild? My guess is that once they start to build in numbers, you'll see activity picking up. Until then, it's up to you to keep us going.

Nah - we're just out driving our cars and can't be on the internet all that much.

I definitely agree here. I'm mightily curious about some aspects of the ALL4 system, and MINI is quite mum on the subject. What's worse is some of the car and tech mags and sites have outright incorrect information, which is even more frustrating.

Since early August, when I first saw a countryman on the Mini site...I've only seen a countryman three times. Believe me, I've been looking. Picking mine up today.

There's also a section on the MINI2 forums for the Countryman, but they're a bunch of whiners. Nearly every thread starts with "A car that costs $X shouldn't have problem Y." There don't seem to be any enthusiasts over there, just people that expected their car to be perfect.

are you implying that the car isn't perfect!?!?!?

(edit: tried to all-caps that, but apparently the forum undoes all-caps writing)

As noted above there are other sites, which I've perused regularly before when I was waiting for my CM. Not anymore. This site has better, and nicer, characters .

This site is definitely the better community for CM owners. I think me and my "Justa" will do just fine here.

I agree. I check this site atleast ten times a day while I am waiting for my CMs to arrive. It's one of the few sites that are informative and not loaded with jerks.

Try this site. It's a blog but has some good info.
http://www.countrymanmotoring.com/

I have not seen any other Countryman's on the road except for the ones on our local MINI club rides. So they are still pretty rare in this area.

Aaron (blog writer) and I watched our CM4s come over on the ship, land, and arrive. If we could have arranged it, I would have met him when he went to Pt. Hueneme to watch the MINIs come off the boat. Very enthusiastic.

There are also some groups in LinkedIn but not CM specific.

If you are down around Suffern and Rockland, in general, you'll see my CB/W tooling around. Buy yours at Prestige? What color?

I haven't found another countryman forum better than this one. I agree MINI2 is mostly for disgruntled owners and seems to move at a snails pace compared to NAM, but I still check it now and then for info.

I kinda like the Countryman folk here, warts and all.

Thanks to Kay Gee for the link to the Countryman stuff. The MINI has brought out a whole new carhead side of me. I would never have modded a car or even washed one more than twice a year. I buy a MINI, and suddenly I'm bitching about brake dust, washing it every month, waxing and buffing like a loony-toon, and frequenting a car forum.

I even started the freaking blog about it! That hardly counts as a Countryman community as of right now, though I do have a bunch of folks reading and even a couple of comments so far.

Wow, more responses than I anticipated. That's great! I guess this community is growing, as it seemed like when I first posted here many months ago, it could be days before anyone even responded.

I'm enjoying my All4 despite a few minor quality control issues (chrome trim, rear view mirror split, boot 12V jack disappeared into the void, etc) and look forward to many enjoyable driving miles (I live up some amazing twisty roads in the woods in Oregon) and hope that the somewhat unproven drivetrain will hold up, even if the plastic bits do not.

I saw one other one, a blue non- All4, a single time. I would have thought I'd see more in the Pacific NW...

Anyway, I'll drop by a bit more often now that I know there are folks checking in here daily.

Cheers,
Tad

Hi
I live in Mahwah NJ. Had my Pure Red with black stripes CM since Apr and haved loved every minute of it. It was purchased from Bob at Prestige. Great place and great people. I have seen several CM's in the area over the past 5 months.
By far this is the best MINI site out there!!!!

I realize that I typed this a couple of hours after I washed the car again (massive bird doo doo I hit on the way home from work and lots of brake dust), waxed the glass, scrubbed the wheels, and tried out a new wheel protectant. It's getting dark after a long day of work, the last mosquitos of fall are biting me, and I'm wiping my wheels with a cloth so they can be clean and dry for the protectant spray.

I love my countryman and have found 7 together in the wild- it was a great event! I have now 26k on my countryman all 4 and I have replaced the clutch- it broke in half- for a beer at the Dragon I'll tell all . I also lost my 12v charger into the abyss- I also finally got rid of the noise when the sunroof opens- 2 little caps made that much noise. I off road- not hard core 4x4 but lots of woods and dirt roads. My area is known for some dirt rally roads and they are a blast. I have auto crossed with it and do not do so bad- it is my skill that holds the car back. I have rallycrossed and that is now my love. My new snow tires are just clearing with the sport suspension I have 18" 55 blizzacks on it and only get pothole rubbing- but they feel like marshmellows after the runflats but the ride is better. Looking forward to prodrive getting the new chip ready for some boosted horsepower and have a lift of 2" ordered for some winter snow clearance- will post pictures after thanksgiving.
