Question Did I Make A Mistake?

I am "Patiently" ha!ha! waiting for my CMS and just got to thinking that I have never seen one with a sunroof! Did I make a mistake getting it? It is finally due at Port Hueneme on the 19th...3 more days! Then how long at the distribution center...no one knows for sure!

i didnt order a sunroof for several reasons....i've had a sunroof in my 03 acura tl (original owner) and never really used it and since i didnt use it, i didnt want to pay 1,000 for something i had very little use for. otherwise, i dont think it negatively or positively affects the look of the CM.

I have it and love it. I've always wanted a car with a sunroof and was finally able to get one this time around. I think it makes the interior space nicer, and I think it looks pretty good too. It's also nice to have the extra light as the days get shorter.

You will love the Countryman's large sunroof and unlike most it is designed such that it doesn't cause wind buffeting. (My Highlander and Jetta always require cracking a side window.) BTW, my required options have been for the past ten years have been heated leather seats and a sunroof both of which I got on the Countryman.

You didn't make a mistake at all. LOVE the sunroof, it is a great option that I never considered leaving it out, even when it became a $1000 option (it used to be part of a package prior to 2012, but the mini coupe changed that).

Love my sunroof! Use it all the time in this great fall weather. And I agree, even closed you still get that great open feeling with it. I am personally glad I ponied up for it even when they took it out of the package.

I have had a sunroof in my last two cars, but in the CM, I thought that for the time spent using it, the $1000 wasn't worth it. I did not like the fact that it cannot be totally covered when not in use, so it may need to be tinted or something.....BUT, it is very nice looking.

Between the tinted glass and the well perforated shade you can pull forward, I think there is plenty of coverage when needed. Just my personal thoughts as I was woried about this as well.

I have a sunroof in my '06 MCS and love it. So, I ordered it with my 2012 CM All4 and love it too. It is a bit noiser than in the MCS but still is great to have and adds a lot of fresh air and light to the interior of the car without having to open the side windows. The sunroof also adds to the good looks of exterior of the car.

Agreed! The sunroof is not visually obtrusive at all on the CM, and I think it looks great. The dual-pane adds a lot of light and openness to the car.

Of course, I'm biased as my first car was a VW Cabrio convertible--I don't think I'd ever get a car after that without a sunroof (though I would LOVE to have a convertible again... maybe someday!)

I hardly ever used the sunroof in any of my vehicles. However, for the CMS I liked the way the car looked especially if you get the black roof. Of course I just put dark tint on it so guess it should now be called a moonroof

The only I don't like about it is it does not have a one-touch close button, or one-touch fully open for that matter.

Had a guy program it that way for me out at the MITM this past August, all it is, is a programming update.

Mine has the buffeting issue since day one. Never owned any vehicle with a sunroof that hasn't had buffeting issues. I have to crack my rear windows each time i open it up and go above 35mph.......
All things considered, would not have ordered or have a Countryman any other way than to have the sunroof!

I so need this! It's the only thing I don't love about my sunroof. My friend has an '06 R53, and his is one-touch. It makes me jealous.

Have you tried it without having "recirculate air" on? Mine doesn't really buffet either way.

Reprogramming Sunroof Switch Logic

How hard is it for the average guy to do? Would the dealer do this for me or would it be considered a safety thing and they'd shy away from it?

It took the guy maybe 2 minutes to do, BUT he had some computer looking thing he hooked up to my fuse box and used that to re-program it. I think to make any programming changes you have to have that code reader contraption. He alos offered getting rid of the seatbelt chime, and a host of other changes, but I opted just for the one touch sunroof opening switch.

Love the sunroof. Its part of Minis design to make the car feel bigger. We had a loaner without the sunroof and I am 6'3" and felt trapped.

I can live with the extra noise for the sunroof. #1 option in my book, well after the cold weather package.

I was concerned before I got it and brought it home, but limo tint negated my concerns of having sun glare baking the inside of the car. We can see the sky, love the option to crack the lid or open her up, and the kiddos love having a big ol' window on top as we motor along!
