Intake/Exhaust question

I have an AEM cold air intake in my R56 and i was wondering, if i increase the in-flow of air, do i need to increase the out-flow of air?

Also on a side note, to anyone with cold air intakes, do you also hear a rush of fluid (gas?) when you hit the gas pedal?

Thanks guys!

I'm no engine expert by any means and don't know turbo's very well but it makes sense to me that you can increase the air to the intake but it does not necessarily mean that your engine is going to actually intake the additional air. In order to do that on a turbo charged motor I think you have to change turbos to a larger turbo, increase the boost (not sure how you do that), rework the heads to accept larger amount of air via porting and polishing, larger valves etc.

I think what may be just as important is the need to find cooler air to direct into the intake. Not just volume. The cooler the air is the heavier it is and thus it produces more HP.

Not sure if all that makes sense but it does to me. Not sure about the second question. Are you just hearing the air flowing through the CAI? Not sure exactly what that means.

There are probably more informed engine experts out there than me so maybe they can help a bit more with your questions.

I figured that's what it would be, i'm not necessarily pulling more air in, just pulling colder air in, thanks though. And as for the rush of fluid, its not the air being sucked in, it sounds like the fluid line is right behind my dashboard. It also only happens when i hit the gas. Before I put my intake in, i didn't hear it, but now i do. I definitely hear my turbo though! :D
