There are a few different cup holders produced for the car. Do you have a picture of the cup holder? That would help people provide the info you are looking for.

Welcome to NAM! Details about your ride?

I posted pics but the mods wont approve the damn thing. I am home 1 day (see my car only once in 14 days) every two weeks and I wish I could get this sorted out

Those cupholders flop around like crazy even when they are complete.

I have one. But the car is not handy right now. If you do not get a response soon I will take a picture tomorrow and post it.

Cupholder missing a piece

You're actually missing a piece to your cupholder. I ordered on from Outmotoring and installed it just like you; it flopped around and couldn't hold my coffee. I searched some pics online and discovered that it was missing a little black plastic endcap piece for the bottome of the holder that the metal rod attaches to. I wrote to Outmotoring, they apologized, and within 2 days they sent me the piece. It just pops on the bottom of the stem and holds the metal rod in place. Yes, they do swivel, which is sometimes nice/sometimes annoying, but it will be pretty useless until you instal that little plastic rod holder to the bottom of your cupholder.
