Folks,
Make sure you call your agent and state any post delivery equipment you have on your MINI, ie. driving lights, Clear Bra, Aero Kits, wheels, etc. Try to get an Agreed Value on your car in case you get hit.

. I'm in my 5th day of negotiating to have the value of my Aero Kit included in the total loss of my MCS. The DUI driver with the 2004 XJ8 let his insurance lapse so I am fighting with my company do

State Farm is now waiting for a 'special' report from ADP to find the value less depreciation of an Aero Kit. I can't wait to hear the results!

One problem I've noticed with Blue Book, Edmunds, etc. is they don't list all the options that you may have on your MINI. I can't imagine the crap you'd have to go through if you had the Works package.

FWIW, my experience with USAA after I hit a deer with my Jetta: Aftermarket mods were covered and *did not* need to be declared in advance of the claim, but you did have to have documentation of the modification (i.e. reciept showing the part / cost).

That still is good advice to talk to your insurance company in advance and find out how they handle these things before you need to file a claim.

USAA is by far the best insurance company I've ever dealt with. I feel sorry for people that have to deal with anybody else.

I rolled my Jeep Wrangler recently and they (21st Century) would only cover $1000 worth of upgrades. --sigh-- I'm probably not doing as many upgrades on my MCS as I might otherwise because of this.

Do yourself a favor and drive over to your agents office with your car and a camera. Take a bunch of phots' of your car with the agens's office in the background. Hey, get your agent to stand beside your car and smile. Photograph the glass close-up so that it's clear that it's not broken. Show anything that you've added to your car. Take lots of pictures.

Make two prints of each. Take one set to your agent and demand that they put the photosinto your file at the agents office and keep one set for yourself as back-up.

Pray that they gather dust forever in the files.

Seems like good advice. Why would an insurance company be obliged to cover stuff that they did not know was on your car? If they know what you have and what it's worth, THEN they can cover it.

USAA ROCKS!!!! I have been with them for 2 years now, and should have transferred sooner. I have had NO problems with them at all. Because USAA deals with military member only, you will have to join the military to benefit from their awesome deals.

Good luck with State Farm doing anything for you. If they work like I've seen in the past, they may settle your claim, but then they'll send a follow up cancellation notice. They really don't seem to like the idea of paying out on claims.

I've had several "not my fault" claims with State Farm, and each time they've covered the damage within days. I've never had a rate increase or anything like that from these claims. I can recommend great agents in Vancouver, WA and Appleton, WI if anyone is interested.

It's not that they didn't know it was on my car, heck even the damage estimate from the body shop says 'part of aero kit' for each part along with labor to replace. The problem is they don't know what to pay for it because it's not listed in the usual option list in KBB, etc. So how will they determint the 'actual cash value ' of a factory Aero Kit? They'll apply some arbitrary depreciation schedule to a body part?

State Farm assures me , though , they will make me 'whole'. I think they really mean they'll stick a hot poker in the hole left in my heart for my beoved MCS!
I wish it had had a stumble or some other annoying problem, so I would be glad to see it go.

i use Statefarm and my agent has assurred me several times over the years
for my modded cars that all parts on the cars are covered as long as I have a
receipt to proove how much each of the parts costed.

Since the aero bumper on my car is broken down into the price, i just need
to show him that part of the invoice.

This is exactly my experience with State Farm. Had a '94 RX7 with several parts from a Japanese spec '99 RX7. Got rear ended and they covered the price i had paid for those parts from Japan! Have had only good luck with them.
