When I was looking at the new 2005 MINI cab on Gabe's website, I see the interior panels (dash and door trims) are color code. The matching leather interior is also a nice touch.

How do you like the painted interor panels vs. silver, anthracite, or patina?

I like it too, back when jerseygirl got her car with the painted dash board I had suggested painting the door trim but she wasn't into it. I'll eventualy get mine painted but not untill it needs it.

When I had my aero kit painted, I also did the door trims and dash panels, while some parts left silver. Ironically, it turned out exactly like the one in the picture.

Hell man, mine are already pretty close. Dark Silver and Anthracite...

I dig the look, especially brighter colors.

Looks awesome! After I've completed all of my performance mods, I'm going to look into this for my mine.

I think BMW stole your idea for the new MINI's interior. You should've patented the painted dash and charge BMW a royal fee.

At first I thought I'd like the color coded interior but now I think it looks a little ricey. Though I still really like JerseyGirl's dash. I'm confused. I guess I'll have to see it in person.

color matching the dash and other peices has always been a plan we've had.

by the end of this year, we will have this done... but it will be slightly different from everybody elses.

Nice dash btw

For those who want color-matched dash, MINI will offer OEM painted dash (5 pieces) to retrofit the current MINIs. Besides the dash pieces, painted down tubes will be available as well.

I really like the look of that cabrio interior especially with the touches of matching seat leather, especially with that bright color (...to contrast w/ black), and especially on a cabrio (...which has that "fun" thing going on). Two big enthusiastic thumbs up from me!

Well so much for my car being unique!

But I do like the fact that they'll offer the painted downtubes. Saves me the trouble of finding someplace to get mine painted.

That's great news! Any idea when those will be offered?

Here're more details from the catalogue:

Interior trims in vehicle body colourAdd an extra touch of fun-filled colour to everyday driving: interior trims are available in all the standard car colours... Even the leather trims are available in virtually all the colour combinations - for instance in panther black, cordoba beige, emerald green or lapis blue...

I'm not sure, it might be available already. Check with your MINI dealer!
The picture in the catalogue displayed the dash trims in red, similar to the ones in the MINI cabrio. The differences are (1) it's 5 pieces dash trims like the current MINI, (2) the down tubes are also painted, and (3) the door trims are not color matched. The reason, I think, is because the door trims cannot be easily retrofitted as the dash and down tubes.

That is lame, it takes all the joy out of customizing your mini. If you can get everything done at the dealer, it kinda defeats the purpose.

I saw something nice in the first GoMINI magazine...a young lady had painted the inner compartment of her door (...not the tubes, but behind them) body color. Now, she had a LY MINI One (...again, a brighter color) and also picked up LY in sections of her re-leathered seats and shift boot. Overall the effect was very nice and seems to me a good alternative I hadn't considered....and all the other trim pieces were still silver! Wouldn't it be great to have aftermarket interior trim items available that could be painted and switched out more easily?
