R50/53 Interior Gauge Position
Interior Gauge Position
Forgive me for a fairly simple question. I looked but can't find much info.
Some Mini's have two gauges above the wheel (stock -- no after market), and some only have one. Some have a large speedometer in the center while some have the same area comparmentalized with a analogue clock, etc.
What causes this difference? At first I thought it was a model year thing, but I have the single in an '06 S and I have seen the double in an '06 S.

The classic Mini's original design had a centre mounted speedo' and the original design of the MINI carried this trademark over, with a tach' over the steering wheel. That's the way all early 02's came.
After initial release MINI offered the factory GPS-navigation system which went in the centre location, quickly followed by the Chrono' option. With either of these the speedo' was moved above the steering col' as a matching pod to the tach . . .
