Very nice Peter. Could you provide more detailed pics? Specifically, mounting area and front views. Does the splitter follow the curves of the chin underside or is it flat? How much does it stick out?
Thanks,
Sid

Wow- that is nice. Price? Great job.
I'd need Park Distance control for the front to not bang into anything and smash the Front splitter.
Only for the very fastest of MINIs.

Didn't someone try this as a homebrew experiment and end up creating so much downforce that it ripped off at speed?
I'm not insinuating that this version will rip off at speed, BTW. Looks like the mounting is pretty stout.
Looks very schweet, IMHO.

Huh? Does your bumper fall off when you sit on it? That bumper is a structural member and the first line defense in a head on collision. Where else would you mount it? Besides, we're not talking about thousand pounds of down force here.

MSFITOY, do you have any experience with front splitters? You'd be surprised at the amount of downforce it adds (definately not 1000 lbs., but still it is a significant amount if the splitter is designed properly). And those two pieces that are securing hte splitter are fitted to the bumper cover (which is what you see from the outside of the car, better known as a front valence. The crash protection comes from the actual metal bumper that's behind the valence) And the "sitting on your bumper" is a terrible analogy in this instance, because you aren't securing the splitter to the top of your bumper.
Depending on how that splitter is secured it looks like it can handle triple-digit speeds. I'll probably end up buying this if I hear about enough positive experiences.

I have not fitted one to the aero kit, but if your in the Los Angeles and want one I like to hear from you......
Regarding how much speed this baby can take....let's put it this way, we drove to Las Vegas and back and
if CHP would have got me on radar.......I still be in jail

>>Nice splitter and nice price!! another thing to add to my list..
Did I miss something? Where's the price? I'm not interested in one, just curious.
Edit: Sorry, I am indeed an idiot.

Yes I have a small amount of experience from prior racing and building my own splitters. I just don't think Peter would have built it to be mounted to the cover. My own design (under developement is similar) involves mounting "through" the cover and attached to the bumper structure as I imagine M-7 is. It appears to be only a modest splitter design with minimal extension of maybe 3 inches so the down force doesn't warrant extreme down force changes. The worse it could do is just rip it self off...not the bumper.
I had the car up to about 115 to 120 briefly and a steady 100 for a good bit of time. Also drove at least 25 miles in excess of 90 on the way home from vegas. So far so good with no problems . All in all have about 800 miles on the car with the new splitter and all is well. I was more concerned with steep inclines such as drive ways or speed bumps but those have not been a problem. Interesting thing is during the high speed tests you could actually sense the car squatting down a bit and feeling more stable as the speed went up. Did a bit of two car testing taking turns leading one another in a draft formation at exactly 100 mph and with about 24 inches between the cars and both were steady as a rock. Between the two new pieces , the wing and the splitter , high speed stability is noticeably improved.
That's neat. I imagined something more similar to the Hamann splitter, with vertical sides and with "hangers." I like how it is mounted higher. Not too sure what it would look like on an un-lowered example. For me its still a close toss between the two. But then, CF doesn't HAVE to be painted and two of them would cost similar to one Hamann. I like it, luckily I'm not in the market for one to make a decision yet.
That pictured wing is starting to grow on me too.
