BMW E36 or E46 shift **** fit on the R56?

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone knows if a shift **** that fits on a E36 or E46 will fit onto the shifter for a 2011 R56. I'm asking because I'm thinking of putting a TRM racing shift **** (fits on the E36) in my car. If anything, does anyone know the pitch and thread size etc for the R56's shifter? Thanks!

There's no threads on the R56 shifter rod; it's simply a press-on unit.

If the one you have is expecting threads, correct, it will not fit out of the box.

Thanks Erik. Are there any other performance oriented ***** for the R56 that you know exist on the market? I've only heard about TRM, the jaffster, and possibly whalen shift *****.

If the **** fits your stock BMW shift lever, it has no threads.

BMW shift **** fitment is similar to 2nd-generation MINI Coopers, except for the fact that the anti-rotation slot on a BMW shift lever is cocked at around eleven degrees, while the slot in a MINI lever is straight across.

You just need an adapter to make it work. Where you get one good luck.

Why would an adapter be needed?
The stock BMW and 2nd-gen MINI shift levers are virtually the same, as far as the ****-mounting area is concerned.

It should fit just fine. It will just not line up the same way that it did on your bimmer; it'll be rotated about 11 degrees.
