I just got this from one of the local Vegas people who just got their MINI. Does anyone have any idea what Brian is talking about?

Hi All,
This week end some one in our group mentioned a letter from (?) that stated the up charges a dealer will charge for a Mini. They said the letter stated that as of (date that Mini would charge 0 dollars for a mini and 1000 for an S. That would be a great letter for me to have.I do not have anyone else's email. Could this be forwarded to find this info out. I need it for argument with Desert Mini. I appreciate any assistance.

I'm thinking you need to ask "Brian" what he's talking about. My guess is that "upcharges" means "price increase"?? But what or how would info on that constitute "ammo against" a dealer? Ammo for what?

 

Everybody wants an S, nobody wants a Cooper, (OK, I know that's not 100% true). This means the dealer is charging $1,000 over list for an S, $0 over list for a Cooper.

The way to avoid this is to find another dealer. You might try just telling them you're not going to pay it. Most of the time dealers are willing to negotiate. They just don't want you to know it.

I don't think a price increase would be considered an "upcharge".

Upcharge is a "because we can" dealer profit thing.

Yeah, what Resmini said. I'm pretty sure Brian already has his car, so I don't know what he's likely to get out of the dealer, but he asked the question and I told him I'd post and see if anyone knew anything about it.
