Movin' To Knoxville!

Hey guys,

I've been on here for a while now and i'm currently moving from Bloomsburg, Pa to around Knoxville, TN. I'm 20, and relocating with my fiance. Anyone around that area? Good active clubs? I know its not far to the smokey mountains, and i'm stoked about that! Any advice on the area would be sweet too! Hope to hear from anyone soon!

You will be in heaven is East Tennessee. I lived in Maryville TN for 13 years, it is about 5 miles from Knoxville. It is Gods country. The weather is great but you have to be a "Big Orange" fan, ie Tennessee Football or Ladies basketball. You will be in trouble if you are an "Alabama or Florida" fan.

TN does not have a state income tax and no personal property taxes on cars etc.

I have not lived there for the last 10 years but miss it everyday. You are close to the mountains and the drive from Tennessee to Cherokee North Carolina through the mountains (not the interstate) is great . You will love all the twist and turns. I think is where they have the annual "Dragon Run". You can search this on this site.

You can play tennis or golf all but 2 months of the year. The weather comes from the west and hits the Cumberland plato (between Nashville and Knoxville) and then heads north to Bristol which keeps Knoxville temp moderate.

I am jealous.

That sounds awesome! Thanks for the reply! Do you happen to know the deal on getting my car register in TN from PA? Plus inspections, that kinda stuff? If not it's cool! Good to hear the weather's awesome! That's always a plus! Is there anyone in Knoxville area?!

TBagin23 do a Google Search of TN Motor Vehicle Department, they should have a website defining all of the necessary inspections and such. Good Luck!!

Registration is easy, the only inspection is emissions in some counties. Even that is no big deal. Registration and tags are only about $35.
Not sure about the clubs but I have seen club postings for the Knoxville activities.
Welcome to Tennessee.

Only $35?! Even with me having it currently register in PA. To switch it is only that little? That's awesome news! Sure hope there's an active club!

I know a couple of people that are active in this club, which makes it a good one.

I'm from Maryville, TN as well but I'm currently in Memphis for a year. But I'll be back in the Knoxville area on and off, so if I see you I'll wave!

P.S. go and enjoy the mountains for me! I'm having mountain withdraws!

I checked that website out, they don't seem to be tooo active. At least they weren't showing it on there. I'm hoping it's that they're TOO busy to be on there! Haha.

Absolutely. I don't think Smoky Mountain MINIs are very active. They have a forum, but I think most of the members are older and don't participate online much. I know a few of the members attend/host events at MOTD. Hopefully I'll be able to attend this year, but it will depend on how my exams fall.

Well, I offically pack up on Monday. (Hopefully, we've been having some pretty bad flooding up here, and it's supposed to rain for the next two days straight..) If there's anyone else out there that's around Knoxville, I'd love to get to know the area/MINI's down there! For a few weeks I'll actually be staying down in I think it's called Sweetwater? That's just until the fiance and I find the place we want to rent in Knoxville. So if there's anyone in that area?
