R50/53 survey
has anyone taken or been asked to take the mini survey. i spent about a 45 min time period answering some different and thought provoking question. it was sent to me by a company i think in the bay area. looks like they want to know what we think of the mini and who is buying them. happy shopper here. mcs
I got a few phone calls from BMW North America after I purchased my car asking questions about the dealership and my buying experience. Then a few months later I also received a JD Power and Associates survey. But that's it. Was this an email survey or sent via snail mail?
I took the survey;I suggest we all take the time. The MIni division will no doubt use this info to help shape future Minis.I want to see Mini continue in the performance direction, and my survey answers certainly lead that direction.
yes I did receive the link to the MINI "Survey" on email over a week ago. This survey was sent out ONLY to selected MINI owners and therefore it was not meant to be a general questionnaire to be received by all.
When I completed the survey, I also was given the opportunity to sign up for an oncoming "MINI future product Workshop" event. I have not yet received any confirmation or specific details as to when or where this future product workshop will take place. Very exciting and I am glad that MINIUSA gave the opportunity to provide feedback that will shape the future model direction of MINI.

cooper4us it sounds like you took the same survey that i was offered. i have been asked after each service chech by mini usa, and i was offered to go to the mini meet with italian job only i could not go so my sister and her husband went instead. i think that the pr group for mini has done more than almost any car manufacturer that i have ever delt with. i also think that this latest survey might spur some new and exciting mini type cars. i would like to see a all striped and roadable car for the people who would like to jim kana on the weekends. kind of the way they used to make cars in the 60's. if you all get a chance to take this survey you will find it kind of fun.

I completed the survey last week. It is very interesting they way they structured most of the questions...it is pure marketing psychoanalysis but it was mighty fun!
I am waiting to receive confirmation for the "workshop" as I am eager to share my taughts about the future direction of the brand with MINI's brass.

I did the online survey from MINI last week. Hopefully I will be chosen for one of the "workshops".
I participated in a similar marketing study for Land Rover when they were working on the Freelander concept and got to see some neat concept ideas before they were publicly released.

Yucca, do you think the "workshop" (If we get chosen) will be a webcast type of thing?

A year or so ago, I owned a Lexus RX 300. I got calls after each service visit, and I remember getting what seemed like several calls from Lexus wanting to know how I liked the car, and would I consider buying another. I always told the caller the same thing... Yes I liked the car, seemed very dependable, but call me after I have owned the car at least one to two years. I don't know of any car company that takes any long term survey's.
im not sure how they picked the people to do the survey but i just got mine the other day so maybe they will be doing this for awhile. mazda once asked me to attend a driving course weekend with the use of the new at that time rx-7s we had a great weekend burning up their metal and learned allot from the professional driving instructiors. price cobb was one of the instructors. they also kept it small only about 15 people. boy i wish mini would let me do that i would like to get some professional driving instruction in this car. mcs

It's not only selected MINI owners who got the online survey. My wife, who's in the MINI database because she bought me MINI-gear but is clearly tagged as a non-owner, got a tweaked version asking why she hasn't bought a MINI yet and what factors might have put her off the car. The first ten questions or so were different, then the format segued into the "owner's version."
I got the owners' version separately.
The questions are mostly psychological and are clearly meant to help MINI brand stewards map the future of the franchise.
Some were sort of "out there" -- "A new TV program starring the MINI has just begun airing. What is its title and what men or women should star in it?".
Some were vaguely connected to design perceptions: you are shown four different bedroom decors, from puffy and feminine to big-wood traditional to Scandinavian austere, and asked which best matches your ideal MINI interior.
And some were directly vehicle-related. You are shown a long parade of new and auto-show-concept cars of various sizes and shapes, and asked whether each belongs in a future MINI showroom. (Among the ones I recognized in the lineup: the Land Rover Freelander, the Nissan Murano and a compact five-door Mazda.)
There was also a free-form essay-question opportunity at the end of my version (not my wife's)... I used mine to urge MINI not to dilute the meaning of the brand by trying to attract too many people. (I mean, look at how Mercedes has wounded itself by trying to compete at the $26,000 level.)
The workshops, if offered, will not be via webcast I don't think. There was talk of paying participants a $200 honorarium, so I think you'd actually have to show up.
Very thoughtful and interesting, if time-consuming, survey and I was left with the impression that owners (and others) are really helping the company chart its course, which is a positive feeling.

I received a questionaire in the mail the other day and $1. Anyone else get this one, I forget who it was from but not mini or JD powers.
One of the questions asked if I use my car for drive-thru eating and another asked if the cup holders had anything to do with my choice. Negatory to both.

I received the survey on Feb 6 and completed/returned it same day. Also voluteered for the workshop. I agree it was a very interesting survey with pix and brand identification and demographics and multiple choice adjectives for concept cars. I'm a survey nut .. Harris, Spot, Power, medical .. and this one was more entertaining than most.
