3 previous owners!

Would buying a '07 MCS with 3 previous owners be a concern? I'm looking to buy my first Mini. It has 26k miles on it. Stick shift.

It seems odd, I would check the service history of the car. It might of had ongoing problems and people sold it because no one could figure out the problems. On the other hand it could have been owned by people who tradxe in their cars often. I personaly would not be worried if the history and the condition of the car check out. Some people put a lot of weight into the number of owners when buying so be aware of that if you are not planning on keeping it long.

That is pretty odd, seems like someone didn't even have it 1 full year?? I'd really question the car, if it is really what you want definitely get it checked out before you put down your hard earned $$!!

I wouldn't worry just based on that. Definitely have it thoroughly checked out though, always a good idea.

I guess I don't have to worry about it

It was on autotrader.com by owner. I called and they never called me back. They just dropped the price yesterday from $18,600 while I was at work to $17,700 by the time I got home. Someone was ready to pounce! It was 100 miles from me.

Carfax showed 3 owners?

Sometimes those aren't all real owners. I think dealer or used car lots can register as an owner.

Remember that 07 was the first year for the redesign. 07 & newer cars have almost no parts in common with the first gen cars (02-06)

If I buy used I make sure the car only had one owner and a clean carfax but thats just for my peace of mind. You always take a chance when you buy used.

People have different reasons for selling. Best advice is to check the dealer's service records (they know everything) and Carfax for accident history.

I would venture a guess...dealer to bank, bank to owner, owner to dealer. Or something similar...dealer to owner, owner to dealer, dealer to auto auction, etc.

I would only be worried if a car fax showed three different owners that were real people.

Is the car at a Mini dealer?

You take a chance when you buy a car - period. Ever heard of the Lemon Law? Even new cars can be a gamble.

People who take care of their cars well do so to increase resale value. These people often sell their cars privately, because trading in doesn't get them a true return on the extra effort they put in keeping the car in good condition.

I stayed in touch with the last 4 people I sold my cars to. They have no complaints because they got well maintained cars.

I was wrong!

She hadn't sold it! The woman called me today about noon. She hadn't read her email from autotrader til then. I got off work early, drove to Tucson and ended up with a chilli red MCS with a black top and black racing stripes. How Sweet!!

Congrats!

So what was the story with the 3 owners in only 26K miles?

Don't really know. The first one was for only 3 months though.

Could be been registered to the owner of the dealer or just someone who bought it and hated it. Who knows! Happy Motoring!
