Stop Leak

Yes, the stuff works. I purchased an RV that sat in a barn for ~20 years and the Rack & Pinion was leaking just like yours and the leak stopper worked great.

so hows the stop leak working so far on you guys rack to this day? i replaced my boots and they are full of fluid as in fluid. the old boots and clamps managed to keep that fluid inside. as far as i know boot are there for dust and dirt protection on the rod. i wonder if this stop leak formula never harms the pump. pls comment.

I tried that stuff in my eclipse once, it still leaked... albeit much slower than the STP stuff. I think the power steering system had a hole :D

while my boots are out i had my sons rotate the steering wheel while i watch and see where the rod comes in and out. definitely the leak is coming from the rod seals. i have my engine out now and I'm on the fence of using the stop leak and if it doesn't work i will replace the rack but with the engine already in, arrrgggggg.

Yea you're better off replacing the rack while the engine is out.. Find a junkyard with a totaled cooper... That's what I did and I paid 150 bucks for a near new rack

I've purchased A trans, seats and a few other parts from these guys before and they are in CA.

Or contact Way he should have the rack to but shipping will be higher.

You don't need to pull the engine to change the rack you can drop or just lower the sub frame to gain access to the rack.
and while your in there check your rear CA bushings.

partcrafts listing a rebuild kit on their website and i believe if its available to general public then its doable. i will attempt to change the seals. if all fails pep boys sells the assembly for $350 with lifetime warranty. i'm hesitant to go to the yard and get a used one, these parts are common to fail.
