Through and through Brit car enthusiast - Picking up an 07-09 Soon!

Hi All!

I'm very excited, I'm going to be getting an 07-09 Cooper S soon. Wanted to say hi and see if there's anything I should know.

A bit of background on me - I'm a huge classic British car enthusiast, and I'm excited that my daily driver will now be one! I own a 1971 Jaguar E Type, a 1966 Triumph TR4A, and half of a 1967 Austin-Healey 3000, so the Mini as a DD is perfect. With that sort of auto interest/ownership, I'm definitely not afraid of working on vehicles. My cars are extremely reliable and I've never broken down, but you gotta know a few things when you own a British classic (or any classic!).

I've got a 2001 3 Series as a daily driver right now, and it's just getting a bit tired. It's got 88k on it, it's a 5 speed, but it's nowhere near as fun as a Mini for a daily driver.

I work with a local dealer (they actually rent space from my company) and he's going to be looking for a low mile 07 or like a 30k 2008 or 9. 6 speed of course, silver exterior, and non-nav. S model.

If anyone has any suggestions or things for me to read up on, feel free to post them. I like to know my cars well so I'd love to get started reading up before I even get it. I'm not planning on modifying the car at all, either, just looking for a fun good mpg daily driver.

Look forward to getting to know some fellow Mini enthusiasts.

Thanks!!!

Well, I don't really have any suggestions but just wanted to say Hi! and welcome to the NAM community! I bought my 2003 MC in February and its been a dream to own! It is so much fun to be able to drive her around and wave at other MINI owners!

Where are you located? There is a MINI that is for sale near me that you might like to see (if you are any where near my state, haha)

Happy Motoring!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm in Chicago, north side. Can you send me the info on the Mini for sale? Even if it's not one I'm interested in I'd like to get an idea of what these are trading for. I told the dealership I work with I'd like to write a check for about $12,000-13,000 - my car is worth $5,000-6,000, so total that's $17,000-19,000.

Thanks!!

So, I know you were looking for a 2007 - 2009 MCS, the one I had seen is a 2004, but in very good shape from what I could see (I stopped on a Sunday at the lot and since it is Indiana, there was nobody there to bug me or unlock the car) so maybe you would still be interested. It is located on a very small local lot but here is what I saw...

2004 MCS w/manual, Pure Silver Metallic with black leather interior. The interior and exterior looked in really good condition. It said on the window sticker that it had low mileage and was $12,950. It doesn't have a webpage for it since it such a little dealership...

Wow, well, that's worth calling on. Sometimes there's a needle in a haystack at a smaller dealer like that. I'd go for that car if it were truly low miles. I'll call tomorrow.

Thanks for the info!!!

No problem! If that one isn't the one you are looking for, there are a few more MINIs in the Fort Wayne area that don't usually get looked at because there isn't a huge amount of MINI enthusiasts in FW. There is a few of us though, trying to give our local unclaimed MINIs a home.
