The standard "invacare" or "guardian" type that collapses in-ward fits just fine - the seats have to be folded down and the leg-foot rests need to be detached, but it all fits ...

I don't know about a wheel chair -- but quite a few people are surprised when I tell them I've easily gotten TWO 24-speed road bikes completely inside my MINI (of course by folding down both rear seats and by removing both wheels of each bike).

I can get a walker inside with the back seats down.
since you have time, why don't you and your friend stop in at the local mini dealer and see for yourselves.
You might be able to get a test ride to carry you through the last few weeks of waiting too.

yohman, with the wheels popped off, it should be no problem fitting it inside. Of course, it would be best to try it out at the dealership during a test drive

I've carried 2 large size rolling garbage cans inside mine, and I'm sure the frame of the wheelchair is smaller than they are. . .

I get my Dolomite Legacy rolling walker in the back with lots of room to spare (with the back seats down, of course. The low entry into the boot makes the lifting easier. I did put a friend's standard manual wheelchair in the boot with no trouble (with wheels attached!).

I say head down to the dealership and ask to try it out! I'm sure they'll be happy to let you try it in one of their Mini's
