Salvage / BC1 / Fog lights / HELP

I'm working on a Salvage 04 MCS that had low water. The BC1 module was replaced with a used unit. It seems the donor car had all the same options except the fog lights (surprising) It fails NH inspection without functioning lights if the car is so equipped. I'm trying to decide which of the following actions to take.

1. Remove Fog lights and fill hole with factory blanks ($50)
2. Purchase new BC1 module and have programmed ($500 -$750)
3. Try and skip any decision making by the BC1 with the fogs and run a direct wire from the switch to the relay point (this i need help with but only $1)

any suggestions???

Awesome Car

take the lights out and do the inspection, then decide what you want to do

To reiterate... your '04 MCS is already on the second BC1 module, and it is also bad?

I live in NH... next option, find a shop that does not care that foglights are now decorative. They are not required lights....so most shops will overlook them ...
Maybe even coverthem with plasti-dip
...kinda like a heavy removable paint.....then deal with it later.will look light covers are installed or the lights are removed. Cost, about $5 .

Could also use some electrical tape overtop the lenses. Cut-to-fit if needed.

jumpingjack......the BC1 is fine....but it will only allow the options to work that were on the donor car....Fog Lights evidently weren't. I jumped the relay to confirm the lights function (they do)....I'm leaning toward a new switch hook up to the relay.

We'll i got off my a$$ and wired in a new switch. I wired it right to the relay point to simplify everything. One i figure out how the relay works better i'm gonna try to wire the "stock" switch and bypass the bc1. That way I wont have the full pwr of the lights running into the cabin.

Thanks Everyone....now to the TPS & DSC lights....the steering angle sensor probably.

Glad you got something working. I asked about the BC1 module because the fog light functionality would be something the dealer has to turn on. You should not have to replace the entire module. Similar to enabling/disabling other functions, such as daytime running lights.

It would be tricky to wire the stock switch. It is not a normal toggle, but a momentary contact switch that only tells the computer that it has been pressed.

If you haven't seen it already, there is a wiring diagram for the front fogs in this document: http://www.motoringfile.com/howto/Fog%20Lights.PDF

I've studied the BC1 the best i can. If Fogs can be added later then why can't my "used" BC1 just be enabled. I went to Concord Motorsports in Chichester NH to have the BC1 programmed. The told me it had to be a new BC1 to enable programming. Funny thing was my AutoAC didn't work before i took it in.....and upon driving away it works perfectly. I'm confused
