I'm a soon-to-be Mini owner on the West Coast, where the wait for an S at MSRP is about 10 months. The good news is I've found a Mini that is almost exactly my specs at a dealer. The one main issue is that it's a white top, and I really prefer a black. Has anyone painted a white top black? How much did it cost and how satisfied are you with the result?

The car has a sunroof. There's not a whole lot of paint involved, tho I imagine that protecting the sunroof adds to the labor cost more than it saves on paint. I would want the white mirror backs painted, too.

Price is an issue because the other option is to order from an East Coast dealer and ship it. The paint job would probably have to be cheaper than coast-to-coast shipping for this to make sense.

I would think about it for a while before painting it...it can be done and you can get a good job -- but then it is no longer original if that is a concern to you.

shipping is not that expensive - check with a dealer back east and see what they will sell you one the way you want it vs what you have to pay for one you don't really want.

An aftermarket paint job will diminish your resale value.

 

MINI of Hamptons - sponsor of this board will ship anywhere in the states for 500 bucks. They also sell for MSRP and usually have a bunch in stock - check them out and see if they can get what you want.

I bet you could get a black roof graphic and stick it on there for alot less than paint.
