I am hell bent on taking my MCS from Florida to the UK for a 6 week vacation. Kind of like a pilgrimage to go back to Oxford for the Mini. Does anyone know of freight companies or information on how to do this. Anyone know of the costs involved.

I have already researched the legal aspects and it can be done, but I don't know if any companies out there that specialize in this sort of service.

Anyone with info please post or IM me.

I can only imagine that it would be less expensive and easier to rent a MINI for some of the time you are there, expecially considering that they have such good public transportation in the UK.

going from the US to Europe (shipping a car) is pricey, it would be probably $1,500+ for shipping. Plus you have to get temp insurance (many credit cards give you rental car insurance, but not on your own) and temp number plates.

Would be cool, but not sure if it's worth it. Oh yeah, I've driven a RHD car in the U.S., and it is a *****. Going down the road is ok, but changing lanes, parallel parking, it difficult.

It sounds like a great idea until you look at the cost.
Shipping is about $1,000 each way.
Getting from Heathrow or Gatwick to Southampton through London is a trip, and back.
Clearing the custom and paperwork, in ans out. Besides you are not allowed to put anything in the car during transit.
You cannot use your US insurance in Europe. European insurance is expensive.
It take awhile to learn to drive in the LH side with a LH drive vehicle so imagine how difficult a LH drive would be to drive.
There are surely many other reason why not to take your car so these ar just a few.

Rent a Mini Cooper S i Britain. Check out the website Bridger.us/mini they have a Mini adventure in the UK with mini rentals.

Good luck & bon voyage
