R50/53 How many of you own 2 Minis?
Just wondering how many of you Mini lovers out there have 2 of these cars in
the same driveway???
I was thinking a second Mini (one for my wife) would be a great idea
but not sure if I would miss the flexability of a second larger car.

We are also another happy 2 MINI family. My wife drives a '02 Cooper CVT PW/B and I drive a 4 month old '04 MCS CR/W.
Our MINIs replaced a 1997 Mercury Tracer LS sedan (hers) and a 2001 Chevy Impala LS sedan (Mine).
Couldn't be happier and we don't miss the "Practical" but rather boring 4 door sedans.

We agreed on never to buy a car based on an infrequent need. Back in 2001, I bought a big full size Chevy Impala thinking that I would need the biggest sofa on wheels money could buy and in the end I never used this car and the interior space as I had originally intended.
In the very rare and remote ocassion we need to bring more than 4 in the car at any given time, we take the other MINI and presto, we have 8 people riding back to back
If there are more than eight, then we can rent a full size 10-15 passenger van for a day or two.
Ditto when moving very large heavy objects. Your friendly Home Depot and even U-Haul will be happy to rent you a van or truck for $20 bucks a day.
Most people in this day and age buy "practical" SUVs and Minivans and the truth is that they ride in these gas guzzlers by themselves everyday of the week.
Go for it. A 2 MINI household is the ultimate statement!

I'd like to make us a 2-MINI family, but alas I don't wish to be in that much debt right now... I long for a MCS of my own to drive on PhillyMINI runs and for DE's.
Cooper4us: I like having a 2nd, larger vehicle for hauling big and/or dirty items. Renting is just too much of a PITA. I find an old conversion van to be perfect for this sort of thing. The raised roof adds very useful head-room and with the seats removed it's basically a fancy looking cargo van. I tend not to drive it much due to it being a horrendous gas-guzzler (15 mpg tops on the highway), but I do us it for camping as well. I plan to drive it more this Spring/Summer after a much-needed re-furbishing in the Spring. The funny thing is that passenger vans are registered as "station wagons" in PA so insurance and registration is cheaper than for a similar value truck. Plus, I can go on roads in Philly where "trucks" are not allowed.

I gotcha. If you have a beater truck for "Dirty" jobs, hey why not
My wife's Cooper CVT is already fully paid off so that is yet another reason why we could afford to get a new MCS...only one car payment in the household. But I am also planning on paying off my MCS as soon as possible as I got it on a 3.99% loan for 36 months with CapitalOneAutoFinance.com. I personally dislike debt of any kind and never buy new cars on credit for more than 3 years on financing.

We have 2, also....they're both 2002 MCSes. Mine is my daily driver, and hubby's is his autocross/almost daily driver. We also have a Subie WRX "station wagon" for when we need to haul the dog or other stuff around.
If you can afford it, go for it.

My mother and I both drive Mini's.
Mine is a LY/LY Cooper w/sport package and SS+, BMP intake, rSpeed exhaust, magnecor plug wires, 35% tint, tinted side markers, PIAA rally lights (shipping)...
My mom's is a realllllly sweet IB/B MCS with sport and premium packages, and sweet bonnett stripes. I'm jealous

>>>>I have a yellow 02 MCS. It needed a little playmate so I bought a classic Mini to go with it. Now the hard part is deciding which one to drive!
>>Love the baby mini.....whats it ride like??
It rides even more like a go kart than the MCS. The steering feels quicker but the ride is a little rougher. It is a blast to drive. You have to get used to people pointing at you though when you drive it.
