Hey, Had fun on the ride Saturday until I had to drop out. Ended up cutting back up to 74 through Marshville. Not being familiar with that area, I got stopped by a Wingate cop on 74 doing 60 in 35...
Anyone know a good traffic attorney for my mandatory Monroe court date?
thanks...

lol sucks. 10mph more and they could have towed your MC. Here is my advice:(i plead not guilty to every ticket i have ever received and am always in court for them, i get a lot of tickets)
You don't need to hire an attorney. Those court dates are just you sitting at a table with a state attorney. They will ask you if you have anything o say for yourself..blah.blah Tell them you got a call from your mother,sister,daughter,w/e and you had to make it home for emergency. (you come up with the rest of the story, or a diff one.
They will MOST likely reduce your fine and/or the points received on your license from the ticket.
if you realllly want to have a lawyer present on your side, just go for the public defender. You will have the same outcome and not spend all the $$$$. Hope that helps

Sorry to hear about your ticket...
I got a ticket 2 months ago. 70 in a 55. I went to court and they asked me if i plead guilty to a 64 in 55 then I just pay the fine and be done. I wanted to go to school but they told me because it was 15 over I couldn't go. Thats what I did!!

Thanks all for the advice. Honestly thought I was doing ~55 in something other than a 35 zone... this could be my first recorded ticket :-(

Depending on the counties, the lawyers will be calling you and if you have previous violations it will cost you $100 150 in lawyer fees and you don't even have to show up in court and they will drop the speeding and get you for something like improper equipment, but you have to have a clean record for this. I got busted with Laser in PA coiming from NH last week. Cop said where is the fire and I said my house in NC. He said he didn't ask for smart answer and I said I didn't ask for smart question, he ran my license which is clean and handed them back and said have a nice day!

Did some research into my ticket. Apparently the stretch of road I was on is a known speed trap so warning to the rest of you!
If you head north on highway 74 before Wingate it is 55. While still in the rural parts, it drops to 45 for .7 miles then to 35 near old highway 74 - still outside of town. That is exactly where he wrote my ticket up even though he stopped me in Wingate and I was already doing 35 by then.
Just wanted to share...
