Owners Manual & Scheduled Maintenance

Hey everyone,

Long time reader, 1st time post. I have been a fan of Mini for while and now that the Countryman is here and coming with a bench seat later this year I am considering a purchase. Couple of questions:
Does anyone have a PDF file of the owners manual ?

Also what is the scheduled maintenance that the owners manual states? How often are oil changes? Coolant flush ? Brake fluid flush? Serpentine belt replacement? Clutch or Transmission fluid replacement?[
How much do oil changes usually cost? Where do you get them done at the dealer or at a mechanic and why?
Thanks for your help !

I don't have a manual.....YET! Hopefully within the next couple of weeks.

But...with a new Countryman, routine maintenance is covered for the first 3 years. They use synthetic oil, so I'm told, so 'recommended' oil changes are at 15,000 miles. So, for 3 years, our oil changes will be with the dealer. After, I'm told by a friend who owns a Mini, that her oil changes cost $54 at the dealer.

Someone else will have to help with the rest....

If you have a mini on order, once a VIN is assigned to your vehicle, you can download the manual in a PDF off the MINI OWNERS LOUNGE.

I read mine "cover to cover" twice before it ever got here.

Hope this works - I haven't tried attaching files on NAM before.

Here's the manual for my ALL4. To answer your question, service intervals are based on how you drive. I drive mostly highway miles and my service indicator is projecting I'll need service at 15,000 miles. I'm just over 10,000 now.

No exact scheduled maintenance, the computer sense when fluids need to be changed and alerts you depending on how you drive, same with brake pads, and air filters, at least thats the claim (seemed to work fine in my R56), my oild changes came a lot sooner than 15k.

Not sure about belt replacement though.

Also, why all the bold?

Not sure why all the bold it just came that like when I typed it. Yeah so I was reading through the manual and I am familiar with the system Mini uses. I have a 07 Honda CRV and it basically says no tuneups or fluid changes for 100k. So basically all I do is oil changes and tire rotations. There is no set time frame for maintenance, my main concern is once the warranty and maintenance is done after the 4yr/50k, it says in the manual I will need a remote reader so basically the Mini dealer plugs a computer into the car and it tells them what needs to be done, correct? Can I get one of these computers? I worried about the cost of maintaining. I usually go to a local mechanic

The remote reader, reads the stored info in the key fob. I'm sure you can use any OBD-II scan gauge to read the info from the car (which every mechanic has).

Oh I had no idea info was stored on the key fob. hmmmmm so if I bought a OBD II Scan Gauge and connected it to the car itself because I assume you can't correct it to the key fob and the error codes will correlate with what maintenance needs to be done? I thought the error codes were only for problems not maintenance I could be wrong thought. I am just nervous about pulling the trigger because I've always had my cars repaired by my local mechanic and by the sounds of things I would need to go to the dealer ( more $$$$) past the warranty/maintenance period 4yr/50k and since I plan on keeping the car and being in it for the long haul, I just want to make sure I know what I am getting myself into....
