There should be a club for us, or at least a motoring badge. Your clips must've been very close to breaking, since there isn't that much wind force at that relatively low speed. Mine flew off on the track doing around 90. Good luck finding one. Sometimes you'll see one pop up on the Marketplace.
happened to me too about two years ago... think my thread was titled hood scoop took flight, quite a few people chimed in. Mini fixed mine under warranty; car had about 37k miles on her at the time.
my hood scoop did the same thing last week doing 60 mph!! the plastic clips broke! do u think double sided tape would hold it down? or any way to drill through it and make a new hole to put a bolt to secure it?
Mine came close to flying off on the PA Turnpike doin 70, about 2 years ago. I was able to tape it down till I got it to the dealer. I told them when they replace it to use the security screw that belongs there for this reason. They replaced it under warranty and screwed it down. Haven't had a problem since.
