R50/53 Coilover suggestions vs. spring/shock combos
Coilover suggestions vs. spring/shock combos
Hey all, I posted this on m|u and figured I would post here too. I recently replaced my stock springs with some M7 springs/stock shocks and although I am extremely happy with the looks of the car, I feel the front gap vs. the rear is kind of annoying. In addition, the stock struts and shocks are shot and I don't feel like replacing them with my original set just "to get by" in the meantime.
So, I have been exploring the option of doing a Bilstein Sport shock + M7 spring combo or doing a budget set of coil-overs, like Megan's or VMaxx. One thing about coil-overs that I love is the adjustability as well as having a consistent ride height vs. the springs. The only reason I am kind of hesitant is the price. The only reason I haven't listed Koni's is because they are on back-order for the next 2 months...and my wife is hating the feel of the car now, and you know what that means!!
So I come to you guys to help sway me. Should I bite the bullet and go with coil-overs? If so, what would I be happiest with. I want the firm cornering but don't want a super harsh ride either...cost is also a factor.
Anyone have a set of pictures of this combo?
Bilstein + M7 Springs
Price wise I'm looking at:
$750'ish for Bilsteins
$650 for VMaxx
$800-900 or the Megans
So all these are in range for what I plan to spend...although $650 looks really enticing....

I have the BC Sports (similar to the Megans) and i just swapped the springs to Swift to make it a little less harsh.. BC Sport setup is harsh - great for cornering\track, but daily driver especially with multiple people is a bit rough. I do like it better than stock + h-sports as it feels more solid.
If you want the perfect setup (looks+adjustability+perf) you should double your budget and go for a nice coilover setup.
