R56 Lost Key(s)

I have a 2008 MCS. I'll spare you the details, but I can't seem to find the keys. I'm still looking. What am I going to have to do to get a key?

You will have to go to the dealer and show them your driver's license and car registration or car title to prove ownership. They will then order you the correct key. The key will usually arrive the next day if you order by their cut-off time, usuaully 3-4 pm.

Oh, and it's not cheap. Expect to pay around $200.

I would only add that an order can be taken over the phone with credit card providing you can fax the paper work to the dealer. Key then can be shipped to your home.

If you have a convertible 2008 MCS, ( 1st Gen ) then the key will work the ignition and doors but coding will be needed for windows and remote acess.

If you have the Comfort Access option, you will also have to pay for programming so make sure to keep the plastic quick tie with the embossed numbers when it arrives. It's needed for this proceedure.

If you don't have Comfort Access, then just placing the key in the docking port and waiting 10 seconds before starting you MINI will be all that is required.

Meantime, if you have little ones around the house, check the kitchen trash bin....they do so much love to be helpful....
