I just got a call from the dealer that my JCW was put on hold. It turns out because of the tsunami in Japan they can not get all the chips for the Mini Connect system. They wanted me to remove it from my build. I told them no and was told I might be pushed back into a 2112.

 

Wow that far back? Are you willing to wait until 2012?

 

I really do not want to buy a car that does not have all the options I wanted. I know I will always think that I wish I would have waited. They wanted to cancel my order. What sucks is I have a 1000 dollar off coupon that will now expire before my car is received.

 

You may want to try locating a car that has the options you want and see if they will swap out one of their cars on their lot for it. They have probably alreaady done a local search, but ask them to expand it countrywide.

 

That is strange. If they knew there was a shortage, why in the world would they have added MINI Connected with Nav to the May incentive program?

Hope I don't get the call - mine is in the paint shop right now!

 

I thought about Mini Connected but didnt see anything I would really use on it. Don't need to see Facebook or anything while driving, and you don't need it to stream music and don't need it to have a Navi, though I don't like built in systems anyway. it really didn't seem like it did much of anything if you ask me. So I passed on it.

 

If this is accurate, I really hope they get this figured out soon. I'm putting in a custom build order this weekend and the Mini Connected + Nav is definitely a deal breaker for me :(

I emailed my Motoring Advisor this morning.....just waiting to hear back.

 

according to my MA, the Connected + Nav is sourced elsewhere and IS available while the Connected (no-Nav) is not.

 

I'm getting to the age where the LESS connected I am the better I like it...

 

I hope you are right, But my car is ordered with the Mini Connect + Nav.

No update on the car yet. *We've received official documentation from MINI
USA that one of the issues is the MINI Connect with Navigation. *Any
information you read on forums and online is usually hearsay and not coming
from an official source.

 

Which did you order? Mini Connected + Nav or just the Mini Connected (no Nav)?

Got this from my MA this evening.....

"As far as I can find out. If we can secure a spot that all ready has mini connect and navigation then we have a good chance of getting it. If you send me over the build I can check and see if there is something I can modify to what you are looking for. Because of the Tsunami... some of the parts are from Japan, these parts are getting scarce. If you email me the build I can check on it"

So, I submitted my build. Let's hope he can make it happen!

 

I got the same call from my dealer here in norway. However, the production date was moved to the first week of july.

 

Was told yesterday that the manager sent several memo to Mini USA and is sure they will have and answer by Monday. I am on vacation the first week of July. If no car, or idea of when by that time I will go to a different brand.

 

MINI's taken care of everything: the words you hear, the songs you sing, the pictures that give pleasure to your eyes. It's one for all, and all for one. We work together, common sons. Never need to wonder how or why

 

That would be a Rush delivery, to be sure...

I got my new 2011 3 weeks ago and ordered it late march and my car arrived earlier then expected ... only thing it was missing was my black housing lights which are on their way over to america now ... Im also going to tell my MA for the inconvenience id like my rear sway bar to be installed no charge ... Thats really weird though that they want to cancel your order.

 

Got this from my MA today....

"As of right now we can order your car…. We cannot guarantee any time table. It could be 9 weeks it could be 12. Its just the MINI connect Navigation option.I am right now looking to see how similar of a build I can find for you. Something that’s in the build line."

Good News:

I got a call from my MA when I arrived at work. She said that Mini USA confirmed that my car will be built with the Mini Connect with Nav. It should begin production on May 30th. She also said that my 1000 dollar off coupon will be honored even if the car arrives after the deadline.
