What car did you drive before Countryman?
Interested in seeing what car everyone drove before getting onto MINI Countryman.
While I will be keeping it along side Countryman, I am coming from VW GTI 337.

I'm still driving what I was driving before CM 'cause my CM ain't here, yet. Gosh darn it. Daily Driver - 2008 BMW 328xi Touring (turned in), Fun Driver - 2004 Thunderbird roadster, Haul Stuff - 2010 Ford Ranger.
My daily driver is also a 2002 jeep liberty sport but is a auto. It has had the nickname as the gutless wonder for a few years b/c I have managed to get stuck off roading a few times. I have a couple restoration projects: 71 Chevy C-20 and 76 FJ40. 2nd car currently is a 07 FJ cruiser. I cant wait for my countryman to get here. Hopefully will have it by the end of the month.
The Countryman is my wife's car. Prior to getting the Countryman, her daily driver was a Toyota Sienna Minivan, and prior to that, it was a Dodge Grand Caravan. We still have the Sienna because it's the only thing we have that will pull the pop-up trailer we have, so we're not likely to get rid of it anytime soon.

I drove a 2006 Subaru Outback VDC 3.0R with a 6 cylinder engine. Great/solid car...My needs changed over the years and the Subie was just more car than I needed or wanted in NYC. I'm much much happier now.
i'm currently driving a 2003 Ford Escape XLT. I have about a 1 1/2 weeks before I get my baby, I hope.
I have to argee with TippyKayak, I have never been so excited about a new car. Most likely becasue I have always bought my cars off the lot.

Had a heavily modded WRX (vf34, catless, pinks, etc.) that I owned from new for several years, then a 986 Boxster S (best handling car I ever owned, but a bad fit for the gravel portion of my road, plus that gen is mechanically iffy and I didn't want to make a $12-15k dice roll on an IMS failure any more) and for a couple of months, a 2-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (15 mpg). All sold as of a week ago, and currently carless (well, wife has a Forester, and I ride my ATV to 'work') until this one arrives... estimated May 21st.

Currently driving '03 MCS Chilli Red/Black roof - got approximately another 10 weeks to wait before my Absolute Black CMS ALL4 arrives. I placed the order at the end of Feb and was told to expect delivery by the end of July. 20 long weeks of waiting here in Australia. Still loving my '03 MCS. Probably won't drive another brand of car!!
Me too. 5-10 years ago, it filled a pretty similar role as the Countryman does now. A small, capable AWD vehicle with a fold-flat rear, a new model that not many people had, good power for its size.
There are three big differences between now and then for me. One is the price of gas and the social responsibility of using less even if you can afford the higher prices. The second is that I've had steady work and raises over the nine years since buying the Liberty and I can afford to spend a little more. The last is that I commute a lot farther for that money (35 miles each way instead of 5).
So now I'm getting a smaller car with a lot more to it, and my well-loved Jeep with 140,000 miles on it can go to somebody who can love it and take it well over the 200,000 mark if they care to.
I loved that Jeep, though. I probably would have gotten a Compass if the MINI hadn't caught my eye.

I'm currently driving a 2004 Mazda Miata, and just recently sold my 1968 Triumph TR250. (I like small cars...)
My wife has her 2009 Honda Fit, and it is going to be an interesting comparison between the two once my CM arrives.

Hey, me too! Well, up until last night anyway. It hurt trading it in (it looked so sad for forlorn sitting there on the lot). That car and I went through a lot together. Funny how attached you can become.
2007 MCSa pepper white/Black top with pink and black stripes.-traded it on my CM.
