New Mini Trans Hesitation?

Hey guys,

I just got my new 2011 mini cooper s and it's amazing! but I have kind of a strange question...this is my first automatic in a long time so it could just be normal, but in the mornings when I put the car in reverse and let go of the brakes it goes into idle speed. except it take a quick second to engage into idle speed and then starts moving? It doesn't happen all the time but mainly in the morning not completely warmed up.

Thanks!
Danny

I'm assuming it's normal given that all the loaners I've had (about 4) had the same thing. All from new to 5k miles on the odo. Also, it seems to be normal since whenever you engage the gear, the revs will drop since there's no clutch, just a torque converter and the only thing to hold the car still is the brake.

Hope that helps.

It's normal. Once the car gets broken in and you get used to the transmission you'll find it's fine. Took me a while to get used to the auto in my 2010. Have no issues now.

yep, it's normal. I was a little worried about it until I drove a loaner from the dealer and it did the exact same thing.
