2007 MINI Nav to '11 MINI Connected

so i've been going over a lot of the nav tabs around here... but i haven't come across anything that makes going from a nav system in a 2007-2010 MCS/JCW/Just-a to a system with MINI Connected... i know the newer system is run off a hard drive instead of DVD based nav... but has anyone tried to do the crossover? because i love my car... i think it's amazing.. but i have an iphone adn have been waiting for MINI Connected to show... only thing is i don't want to get a new car... i'd rather just update my nav system to have MINI Connected in it... anyone think it's possible? maybe even making is so my DVD drive actually plays DVDs now and the nav runs off the harddrive :P

Well ANYTHING is possible but there are so many changes to the system and the parts that it would be prohibitively costly. And then there is the issue with the main wiring harness and its lack of having all the right wiring and then a new harness would also have the wrong wiring so it should have to be a CUSTOM harness that may or may not work when done.

So although ANYTHING is possible it would be cheaper to buy a new car.

You would have to replace EVERYTHING

There is way too much going on behind the scenes to make a "port" from your current NAV system. You need USB ports, BlueTooth 2.0... and what I can make of it thus far, with the latest software upgrade, Mini Connected "talks" to your engine, climate control, and just about everything electrical.

Example... I turned on my heated seats, and the new Mission Control said something like "... oooo, nothing like some warm seats to keep you motoring".

When I closed my roof, it said "bye-bye blue sky"

When I hit the sport button, it said "brilliant!'.

It even spouts of fuel levels, outside temp ("it's mighty chilly today")... I can not imagine the electronics behind the scenes; much of which I have to believe was not even invented when your '07 was built; sorry to say.

That said... if you love your car. Much of the Mini Connected in simply gadgetry... wow factor stuff. Not worth parting with your beloved Mini!
