After Market interior chrome?

We have selected a dealer ordered All4. It has almost everything I dreamed of minus the Convenience Package (I guess I'll have to use a key ) and interior chrome. It should arrive in CA this Thursday & be in my driveway later next week. Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know in past models, interior chromse was something you can do yourself after market. Anyone know if anyone is selling this yet? If not, can you get it from the dealer?

i realize its personal taste, but
what color is it going to be.
just realize that the CM is very new, and very different, so it may be a while for aftermarket tid-bits since most of that focus i believe will be in engine and suspension tuning, and not as much focused on the interior.

It is Black body with Black roof/mirror caps. We are having the dealer add red racing stripes.

I am hopeful that we can get the chrome in the interior. I've asked my MA for MINI pricing, but wanted to know if there were any other options.

Thanks for your comments - MINIs are definitely a personal taste kind of thing. I think that's why we like them so much

The DIY for the R56, 55 and 57 was this. Buy the speedo surround with the chrome rings. Same with the vent pods and the speaker pods and all the other chrome parts you want. The chrome rings are not sold alone, they are melted to the pods. This will leave you with the left over parts, lots of pods that most people won't want. Oh, the Airbag will be a HUGE problem and expense if you need that ring in the chrome.

On the first gen cars there were chrome rings that would go over the painted ones as well as OEM ones that you could buy but the design has changed so it is not as easy now.

Good luck to you!

When I saw the $250 charge for the cockpit surface in anthracite or piano, I started searching for interior kits. For that money, I figured, I could get a nice aftermarket kit in silver or wood. No such luck. I ordered the chrome interior and the anthracite surface, but I've keep looking for a kit just for curiosities - nothing, yet. As noted, you can change the rings - but the interior chrome package is more than that and most likely outrageously priced if you buy individual pieces. My plan B for the items I want to swap is to wait for someone to total one in the DC area. I'm going to start cheking the salvage yards to see what shows up.

Good luck!

Salvage yards are a good idea - though I will probably cry if I see one totalled.

Perfect ... Thanks! Maybe I didn't look close enough at the showroom, but do the chrome packages all have the chrome around the nave like that? Helps take away from the "Mickey Mouse" look that it has. (My husband first pointed that out & now that's all I can see - Mickey's head & 2 ears! )

Chrome package has the rings around the Big Circle, vents, and gearshift. Item of note (that I've mentioned before) - Cooper has a very nice subdued dark silver finish to those dash rings/pods. Looks very nice with the chrome trim package. Upgrade to Cooper S and you get the chintzy, painted looking light silver rings/pods. Chrome trim helps, but not as much.

My SO and I continue to disagree on the Piano Black trim. I've had it and I don't get it - looks like cheap, shiney plastic, scratches easily, and collects dust and fingerprints. Just another thing to be careful with and clean often. He, on the other hand, has never had it and thinks it's the most spiffyest trim in the world. Each to their own.

No that's not the chrome package that's aftermarket.

Ditto. I thought I saw someone selling a kit for the other models that consisted of the OEM parts.

I wonder if some creative vinyl work would be believable.

Dear God those dealer ones are expensive...

Where can I find a US site with those Japanese ones listed?

Those are in Hong Kong Dollars!
The Japanese ones don't come cheap.
I would say the factory ones are your best bet!

Call Aaron at Outmotoring. He has an aftermarket chrome interior kit for other models listed on his website and he may have one inthe works for the Countryman.

I have the Outmotoring kit in my Countryman. Lots of bling. It looks great, and it wasn't too expensive.

Can you post pictures of our Mickey area? And also on how the chrome trim butts up against the console since it sticks on over the top? How has that 3M tape held up?

Everything is holding up really well. I'm out of town until late Sunday night, but I'll take some pics and post them on Monday. Where the aftermarket pieces meet the stock Chrome Line (tach, speedo, and outer vents), it looks like one continuous piece. Very nicely done.
