Can You Polish the Outer Lip on Web Spokes

Unfortunately, I cant get new wheels till next year (Tax Time).

My question is it possible to polish the outer lip on my R98 Web Spoke wheels? I tried putting a buffing wheel on the lip to test and all it did was scuff it. Has anyone attempted this? Is it worth the hassel? Any Pics?

Thanks AXO

You can, i have restored my set, you have to-

Remove the clear coat.

Remove the inner rim from the barrel.

Sand the lip accordingly

polish w/metal polish.

Done

Hope this helps, if you have questions ask.

Picts of the restore? The previous owner completely buggered my cars wheels (city dweller), and it drives me nuts to have the 17s and to see that daily. I like the wheels, but the gouches are quite prominent.

I am glad you asked the question, as I had just assumed I could take a small grinder to them, grind them smooth, sand them and they'd look fine. sounds more involved than I would want to deal with frankly.

I will look locally to see if anyone does blasting that could get them right for me again.

Its not that hard, You dont have to remove the inner piece is you dont want to, but you will have a crevice that you cant sand. I was able to remove all oxidation from the rims.

I cant find pics on my work computer but im sure i have some before after pics at home
