Interior/Exterior Rear seat removal with platform
Rear seat removal with platform
I just bought a 2011 HT Mini Cooper for travel to work. I am also interested in using my Mini to travel to dog agility trials with my 3 year old 45# golden retriever. I took the rear sear out and am looking for a platform that goes across the rear to make a flat surface to handle a crate of some size for the golden. Any suggestions wi
Ould be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2007 that I recently removed the seat in as well. Depending on your level of craftsmanship, I would recommend buying a sheet of 3/4 mutlilayer oak playwood and building a nice cargo shelf. The back area between the seat piller (trunk area), is very easy to do. It has several hooks for the cargo nets and you can just cut a piece of wood and carpet it and set it down and it should stay, just cut it very close. The front is a little tricker because of the side plastic panels. They taper alot a random intervels. I don't have any advice for you on this one because I am still trying to figure it out.
If you deside to build it yourself, I would recommend insulating the trunk with some sound and fiberglass inslation, if you plan to store nothing under it. I have Rockford Fosgate everything in my 2007 HT and a Stramosphere exhaust (Mean and noisy). I insulated to keep the sound in, and the exhaust sound out. Another thing you could do is cut holes in the boards and add piano hidges to make storage compartments.
Either way, Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the imput. I ended up buying the rear seat delete platform and it works just great. I have a SUV crate there that I will be replacing with a custom crate just because of the size, but in the mean time we are hitting the roads for agility trials in my little Mini and loving it!!!!
Thanks! I didn't realize they would put one in a hatchback. And seems it would be easy to just fold the rear seat backs down and crawl out. Assuming one could fit back there.
Must be some govt regulation though. Funny.
