Greetings!

I am at the top of the list at my Mini Cooper Dealership for the 2005 Mini Cooper Convertible. I currently own a 2002 Red Chili Mini Cooper. Does anyone have information on the convertible top? Is it going to fold away into a boot or is going to stick out like the VW Beetle Convertible?

I have seen photos of a large growth sticking up high at the back of the car. Yikes. Any informatin would be appreciated.

Wedge,

You can find a lot of info on the Mini Convertible on either MINI2.com or over at Gabe Bridger's site.

Enjoy!

I don't like it. The solid "lid" roof is what makes the benchmark design of the MINI. Once you take away the solid roof, the car looks like something else.

Still, I am glad that MINI is working hard to keep the car interesting and fresh by offering different variants of the current R50/53 design. VW missed the boat big time when they delayed the introduction of the VW New Beetle Cabrio by almost 5 years!

MINI has done so in less than 2 years after launching the car to market.

I am not a fan of convertibles and still think the MINI was not meant to be an open top vehicle, but the MINI OPEN will surely take away sales from the frumpy looking VW New Beetle Cabrio.

MINI I am eagerly waiting for that MINI Countryman wagon!

I've just posted a new article on MINI2 that has a couple of new things, but is mostly a compilation of our photos and news, with links to other "information" I've got in the past few months.

http://www.mini2.com/news/news201.html

Hope that helps.

Having seen it up close and personal in the new blackeye purple colour, I was very impressed, much more so than from photos I'd previously seen.

It looks like it will stick out but not much. There really is nowhere for the top to fold into the boot. Wonder if they will make a boot cover? Since the rear seats probably won't down, I wonder how much space will the boot have? BTW, the NB vert looks better than the hardtop NB, not frumpy at all.
-Peace
