I am guessing this information is out there somewhere, so at the risk of being told to search old posts, I am wondering in anyone knows the weight of the OE 17" Conical Spoke wheels. I really like my OE wheels, but at some point this coming fall, I plan to add some winter wheels and tires and I am wondering if I want to relegate the Conical Spokes to the winter tires and order new wheels for summer, or if I should just plan on ordering winter wheels and tires together.

What tire are you running on them?

 

So far there is little on wheel weight for the R121. I would expect that it would weigh between 22 and 23 lbs each as is standard for MINI 8 spoke stock wheels made by BBS.

Your options are-

Keep the stock wheels and tires for general use for three seasons.
Make a separate winter wheel/tire combo for winter use.
You do have to store an extra set of wheels but it's not bad if you have the space. The extra four wheels can be packed into a MINI with the rear seat down and taken to a garage to have them installed each winter or you can do it yourself. You don't need TPMS on the winter set unless you want them.

Put winter 17" tires on your Stock wheels and buy aftermarket wheels of any size and tires to match. You have two sets of wheels.

In general, winter tires are usually best more narrow so sizes for 16" wheels makes the most sense. 16" wheels can be relatively light compared to stock wheels and selection is good. Don't go too wide on the rim to save weight.

Aftermarket wheels can be very light but you usually pay more for that, the wheels have to clear the front brake calipers so some designs may not fit. 17" or 18" are usually fine but 16" or smaller you need to be wary. Thin wheel spacers can be used to help get more clearance.

If you like an aggressive look and have good roads with few potholes then 18x7" rims and tires are possible. Tire selection options aren't quite as many.
If you have poor roads then 16x7" rims and 205/50-16 or 205/55-16 tires will give you more ride comfort, good handling, good tire selection, and good wheel selection.
If you pick 17x7" then you can save some weight depending on which wheel you choose, tires will be stock sized or close like 215/45-17 and ride quality will be better than stock runflats.

You don't have to need worry about it, It has not much heavy weight. I have 17" cousils spokes and I didn't find anywhere its weight. If you are interested to get further info then wait i'll send you a link which will be helpful for you.

 

This confirmed or just a guess? That seems fairly heavy.

 

When ordering my car this summer, I asked Mini for the unknown 17" wheel weights and the three they sent me were:
So in American money, those are 22.0, 22.2 and 23.8 lb.

 

Thought I read somewhere on a UK website that the conical was 10kg....thanks for the confirmation there!

However, some of the other wheel weights in the catalog don't match up with the weights on MINI2, so I don't know which numbers are reliable. I suspect the numbers on MINI2 are a mix of actual measurements and specs from MINI.
