stone pits on hood

I was behind a truck traveling into Va. on beltway and couldn't get out of his way due to heavy traffic around me.His tires were throwing up massive amounts of pebbles and dirt and needless to say hit my hood making all kinds of pit marks uugghh. It looked like his back loader was uncovered but it was hard to tell as it was up higher than I could see.Now after repaint I will deffinately look into clear bra.I was always under the impression that in time it yellows and when removed would ruin paint. Is this true for anybody that had it applied and removed...Thoughts?

I've only had mine on for a few months but I do not have a single pockmark anywhere I had the XPEL bra applied. I drive 90 miles a day - my MCS is my dd - and I am always behind some vehicle, quite often trucks, that I can see lots of gravel and sand kicking up from and hitting the front of my MINI. The clear bra does an excellent job of protecting the paint even from small stones as long as they are not shot from a gun. I was never a believer in clear bras until I took a chance on this one and I am so grateful I did - only wish I had done it sooner as I got a chip from a pebble the week before having it applied.

I had the entire hood, bumper, scoop, headlights and both mirrors done. It's guarenteed to not yellow or fade as long as it's reasonably cared for. You can make it look cloudy - a buddy of mine at work has a half hood clear bra on his Boxster and someone used the wrong cleaner on it and frosted it. My installer gave me good maintenance instructions. Regardless, it is some tough stuff and is difficult to tell it's there if you don't know. It's just as shiny as the original paint and far more forgiving of incidental scratches. Also, my installer has been doing this for years and has removed it after several years to reapply and has never had any paint damage upon removal.

Newer stuff does not yellow, or so I am told......

It's on my radar after a needed repaint of bonnet and bumper.

I spent some time this weekend cleaning my Mini and found more chips than I realized. It is my DD, about sixty miles a day.

How much do they cost?

I'll have to say you made me a believer. Is that EXPEL a 3M product? What did you pay for the application?

Here's the website:

http://www.xpel.com/

Installation prices vary widely but you can expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 for what I had done. Definitely worth it, IMHO.

There are a cleaner in a spray bottle and a protectant that's similar to a liquid wax/polish that you can order. I recently got them both and will apply on the next cleaning.
