First dent in the new car

So it happened...the first dent on my beloved new car. Its my fault and I'm ashamed (well technically it's the fault of the %^&$*#!!! who parked next to me) but you get the idea.

I say it's my fault because I should've spent more time looking for a less crowded area of the parking lot, but my wife was sick and looking to run into grocery store, so I parked in a spot next to an island and empty on the other sides. By the time we came out 5 minutes later, there were cars all around me. I checked quickly and say no scratches/dents so I was relieved. A few days ago , I was out and left the car at the far end of a parking lot and as I approached I saw it... the smallest of dings, so slight that you can't even really see it via picture, but it's there and bugging the heck out of me. I'll try later today with a better camera, but the location seems like a pain to have removed. It's on the passenger side rear quarter panel, just next to the taillight. Right where the sheetmetal bends. Does this spot seem like it could be reached by one of the paintless, dent removal guys? The paint is not cracked, I fear that the location is what will be tough.

Sorry for the rant, I just needed to vent. And why can't people just be more careful when getting in/out of their cars!!!!?????!!!

It is because people just can't respect or appreciate other's belongings.
The paintless dent guys do wonders. Give it a try and you'll never be thinking about it again. Park far far away where no man is willing to go.

I have been amazed by what the dent pro guys can do. By your description, is sounds like they could get in via the rear tail light. These men are magicians. Give it a try.

Thanks for the empathy and advice. I think I'm just still in the p/o and annoyed phase. I've had dents removed from previous cars, but my MINI has been a 10 year dream in the waiting, and this is just the sort of thing that ruins your day. I'll definitely have to give the dent removal guys a shot. I haven't needed to use one in some time, so please let me know if anyone knows of a reputable company in the NJ/NY metro area.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe my story will make you feel better. Before getting my Mini last week I owned a Saturn Sky Redline for 4 years. For the first 3 years I babied it and managed to keep it completely dent and ding free. I would always park at the farthest end of the parking lot, I'd get to work early to get the most isolated parking spot there, etc...

Then one day I'm sitting inside my house listening to it pour outside. Was a pretty severe thunderstorm. About half hour later someone knocks on my door and I answer and there's my neighbor standing there asking me if I'd seen my car lately. Turns out during the storm a small tornado came by and ripped a large branch off a tree that was just in front of my car, and of course, the branch landed right across my entire hood. That was the end of my perfect car. I ended up with 1 large dent and about 8 or 9 small dents all over the hood. Even with insurance I wasn't able to afford the deductible at the time so I ended up driving it like that until I traded it in.

Let's see how long I can keep my Mini dent free.

it's worse if self inflicted...

my dear Gollum wears the scars of me removing snow! scratches that although not evident from a distance will never go away either...

what on EARTH was I thinking of!!!

my sympathies -- should you decide to heal that boo-boo I hope it comes out perfectly for you.

That's a tragic story. I'm very sorry to hear that and wish you and your MINI well. Hopefully you make it dent-free longer than I did (only made it 7 months). Best of luck and stay away from the trees!

Thanks! I can't stand that people don't respect others' property, but what will be, will be.

Btw, can you polish the scratches out or is it really that bad?

First, sorry you didn't catch the a-hole and b*tch slap him/her.

Second, dentless removal is amazing and may just be all you need.

Third, check this out.... I have the cans, but didn't do it yet. I will post my results.
