Joey Mod & Car inspection

Hello all,

Iam looking for feedbacks or some personal experience you guys might have had with the dealer and your joey mod.
Iam planning to do mine soon(finally )however Iam having an issue with the lower right bold on BOTH headlights ... I have read that some ppl faced the same issue and reverse drilled out the piece.
Unfortunately Im not able to have this option, so I called the dealer and told the service department that I needed the bolt removed/replaced because it was rusty and I couldnt do it myself...before I knew it he started firing hundreds of questions as of why I wanted to take the headlights off.

When I told him I wanted to have the inside plastic piece painted (first off he told me theres no way I could have them open thank God I didnt say I was gunna stick them in the oven), he basically told me that if I was to modified the headlights that my car wouldnt pass inspection and for the worse I would have to buy new headlights ...

We all live in different states, countries but my question to you all that have done this, will the car pass inspection without a problem ? Has any of you had negative feedback from the dealer or problems with them afterwards when serviced or else?

thanks for the answer, Iam scheduled to go see them tomorrow to fix that bolt.

Are they xenon or halogen? there is a factory "joey modded" xenon option. There are many factory headlight assemblies halogen and xenon which are black in the same way a joey mod is.

I never had a problem with inspection, and the car dealer I traded my car into didn't even notice they were painted. When my SA first saw them, he just thought they were tinted.

The Joey Mod doesn't really affect light output, so I don't see why it would be a problem. You're definitely going to void your headlight warranty though.

I like that. I didnt even know there was a separate warranty on the headlight haha.

I don't think there is, but there might be. But a good dealer wouldn't deny engine warranty work because of painted headlights though. They just wouldn't replace the lights, or anything related to them.
