Postal
Postal

I have a door scratch that is through the clear coat I just got today from a brand new mini van. I now know what it means to go postal. I park in BFE but still guy parked right next to me.
I seriously considered calling the police. I have clar barred it too much already and it is still there. i can barely feel a scratch but in PW I can really see it. Wow I am overreacting but srsly this is not good! Will amigo or swirl do me any good on this?
I feel your pain, I was sitting in my car the other day when a woman backed in her huge minivan beside me. Opened her door right into my folded-in mirror and started to just walk off. I got out and confronted her, she said "i touched your car, but there's no mark!"
I inspected it closely then glared at her, there was indeed, no mark. When I came back to leave later, she had evidently hit it again because there is a chip on my mirror cap now.

I keep saying it. People have lost respect for others personal belongings. I was raised that if you borrowed something you returned it better then how you got it. Same with cars. I have dinged peoples cars before and waited around till they came back so I could give them my info etc.
Most of the time I just give them the card of my paintless dent guy that I know from when I worked for a dealer and he takes care of it for me and just bills me, if its small and easy nothing.

Well, I can now only see the scuff from above. Looking directly at it or from below it is not visible. Should I be going a different direction with the clay or something?
Thanks and sorry for flipping out, I am better now. I coached my wife into telling me how these things happen and it's not a big deal

i feel your pain. I was in the drive through of wendys one day with my steel bumpered Workvan and some dumb B!tch yaking on her phone rear ended me. (Luckly i wasnt in my mini) my bumper didnt have a thing on it except from some chipped yellow paint from the liceneplate.
Her van was a different story, i walked out and confronted her and she blamed me for being there and told me "had i had a normal car her bumper wouldn't have been screwed up. WTF?!?!? The sad thing about it was she still had her phone to her ear got in the van and pulled away.
I also cannot stand people that park next too you when you try and park away from the other people. One time I was coming out to my mini as some dumb stuck up lady in her range rover parked next to me so close i dont know how she even got out of her car. I said really mam, there are a ton of spots closer to the door, why did you park next to me? She replied "I cant stand people that think they're better then everyone else by parking far out. Its just a car" it took everything in me to not flip **** on her. I laughed and said please follow me, i want to make sure you didnt damage my car by being a dumb (c***)
I really hate people sometimes
as for your scratch your going to need to spot repair it. Claying wont do anything but remove the contaminates from your paint. http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-430-a...g-pad-kit.aspx also, watch the videos half way down the page. They explain how to get this out. albeit its not all the way down to primer. You may not get it 100% but by knocking down the sharp edges of the scratch will help hide it!

Like everybody else on this thread, I want my MINI to stay flawless. It's a big deal to me. But after a drunk driver with no insurance ran a light and totaled my much-loved pristine 911 a few years ago, I came to the realization that the only way to be sure nothing happens to your baby is never drive it. Since those of us who love to drive our cars know we’re not going to leave them in the garage, we can only do what we can do. Thankfully, Gromit doesn’t have a mark or a ding on him--so far. I’ll continue to park at the outer edge of parking lots, put the car cover on when I can’t, and hope for the best.
Sadly, most other (non-car) people are completely oblivious to us, our special cars or to our scratch and door-ding paranoia. I'm not thinking of drunk drivers or vandals here, just ordinary folks who have no interest in cars. To them, cars (theirs and ours) are just appliances. Door dings and scratches on our cars, inflicted by their carelessness, are nothing. It doesn’t make them bad people, they just have a different value system. But, I’m afraid we will always share the road (and the parking lots) with them. We just have to do the best we can to protect our MINIs and make our peace with the fact that sometimes it may not be enough. Fortunately, most dings, chips and scratches can be put right, given money and time. Also, it helps to remember that in a hundred years, it won’t matter anyway!

Totally get it. I always park in BFE and inexorably somebody else just HAS to park next to me.

clay, polish, wax will help hide it.

I think the MINI is a magnet in a parking lot. We park alone on the back row all shined up and as they drive in they are attracted to it and have to park next to us. Really close too, so they can check out the interior from their driver's seat. urrggh.
I did this to myself today - scraped against a sign as I swung into my parking space :( Haven't tried anything to knock it down yet, but there was blue paint on the sign so I know it's not good. When it stops snowing (it's April for f*cks sake) I'll take a stab at it by hand, and then probably call the insurance. I don't know if it's better that I did it myself, or worse....
