Prima product help

I plan to do some SPRING CLEANING this weekend on my Chili Red MCCSa.

I am going to be using Prima Products and want to know what is the best layering formula to use.

Paint is in very good shape. Black roof has some light swirls. Just needs some TLC.

Here is what I am going to be doing in this order...

Wash with Dawn Dish Soap
Clay entire car
Prima Amigo
Prima Banana Gloss
Wheel Wax on wheels

Is this a good formula or am I missing something?

Hmm. I suppose it depends on how often you wash your car and like to apply wax, but wouldn't you want a longer-lasting wax like Epic between the Amigo and the Banana Gloss, especially if you intend to strip off all other waxes with your Dawn wash? *shrug*

Well, that's why I'm asking this question?

I was once a week (weekend) and run through a touchless mid week.

Wax/polish every 3 months

Your process is fine. A Dawn wash may not be necessary unless this is your first time using them. There is no harm to using BG instead of Epic. The practice of putting a carnauba over a synthetic is popular but not mandatory. It would be done for longer protection.

BG should last 1 to 2 months and Epic should last 4 to 6 months and combined should give you something similar when combined as long as BG is applied after Epic is fully cured.

But since you aren't using Epic, let's go over your process.

The advantages of using BG are:

1.) Fillers to improve light swirls and defects
2.) Extremely forgiving during application
3.) Very fast and easy to apply and remove...very little wait time.
4.) Carnauba richness

You can apply two applications of BG in the time it would take you to apply Epic once and waited for it to dry. As long as you're aware that carnauba's only last 1 to 2 months and will need to be replenished sooner, there is no harm with your process. Amigo also will offer some level of protection though its billed as a polymer glaze.

Currently I was using Maguires carnuba wax. Should this be removed via dish soap or will the clay work?

Then
1 or 2 coats of Amigo?
Then
2 coats of Banana Gloss?

OctaneGuy,
Do you recommend the porter cable 7346SP polisher for good results?

1 coat of Amigo should be fine. One or two of BG is fine as well. Dawn will happily strip off the Meguiar's wax, so yes use Dawn.

re: PC
7424XP is the latest version of the PC, so get that one.

I'm glad to share, but please ask some questions....I'm answering questions during my breaks while I'm buffing a 1994 Acura NSX and a 2011 BMW M3 right now, lol.

The 7424XP is the latest version which has a bit more power, different ergonomics. Both polishers are good. I have one of each kind of PC...a total of 12 of them in my shop..not 12 unique ones....12 total with many duplicates, lol.

The older ones are sold for very cheap because people want to upgrade to the latest and greatest. I use them both.

Does a package like this make sense. My paint is in great shape, so no need for major swirl removal.

I get to choose 5 pads. Which do you recommend?

As a supporting site vendor and major contributor to this site, all I have to ask is....why isn't Autogeek answering your questions?

From that list, you'll want 2 whites, 2 orange, and one black for your MINI or 2 whites, 1 orange, 1 red, and one black. Course I think the CCS pads are lousy which is why I don't sell them except in the small 4" size which don't come in flat pads. Also I think Prima's chemicals are better than Wolfgangs, but that's personal preference.

and my DVD
https://showcarsupplies.com/shopexd.asp?id=218&bc=no

I sell the only modded PC utilizing my inventions that help you polish easier, safer, and more effectively

If your swirls aren't bad..and you are making this based by looking at your paint under strong sunlight without having any wax or products with fillers concealing some defects...then a white pad with Prima Swirl is all you need.

My PC comes with the flat LC white pad, velcro backing plate, PC Guard and OneGrip mods, all ready to go.

CCS pads are hard to clean, harder to control than flat pads, and people love to sell them because they deteriorate faster thus leading to more sales.

I put together custom bundles for anyone that asks. You set the parameters, I'll ask you for further details to clarify, then make the recommendations.

So, this only comes with 1 pad, are there any else you would recommend.

I'm gonna do
Amigo with PC
Then
Banana Gloss by hand

The LC White pad and a bottle of Swirl is all you need for a finish that is in relatively decent condition. An orange pad is desirable for areas that need more correction. A black pad to apply a wax is also desirable. So really, you only need two pads...the PC comes with one....and yes it only comes with 1 pad..if you don't want the OneGrip Combo which is how I configure them, I can take it out and give you 3 more pads.

Amigo with PC isn't going to give you any correction. If you just want to enhance gloss and take advantage of some of its filling capabilities, then Amigo with a white pad is fine.

BG is a hand applied wax so that is correct.

Do you have any clay?

Cool. There is no better clay than the Meguiar's C2000 clay.
It's a mild clay that comes in a 200gram bar. Most clays are only 50 grams. What makes the C2000 clay the best are:

1.) It doesn't crumble when in water
2.) It doesn't stick to your hands and turn your fingers the color of the clay. Mothers and Griots clay do this and they suggest you wear gloves..which keeps you from feeling the paint while claying.
3.) It stays easy to knead regardless of colder or warmer climates. Many clays are rock hard and practically break your fingers trying to knead them. That makes you want to knead them less which is bad since frequent kneading is necessary.
4.) It performs faster than other clays

https://showcarsupplies.com/shopexd.asp?id=116&bc=no

Lube can be a variety of things. The simple way is this:
https://showcarsupplies.com/shopexd.asp?id=123&bc=no

It can also be a quick detailer but not too slippery. Prima Slick tends to be a poor lube because it's so slippery.

It should. We ship all orders the next day in most cases, sometimes the same day if it arrives early enough. Everything is in stock so I don't see there being a problem.

Richard,
I forgot to ask you, what mods do you make to the PC? I know it comes with the strap things.

Also, when will you have 1 gallon bottles of Hydro back in stock?
