Playlist for that first ride in the new MCS!

So my new MCS should be getting here soon and I'm very concerned that I choose just the right music for our first drive together. Sets the tone for the whole relationship .

So I know I'll have Blinded by the Light in there since I'm naming my car after GoKart Mozart. Also Everybody's Everything by Santana is a great driving song. I'll need some Led Zeppelin and AC/DC I think. Some Nine Inch Nails and Atlanta Rhythm Section for variety.
My drive home is about 45 minutes, but I may take the long way and stretch it to an hour .

Any suggestions?

Annette

Give a listen to "I Still Believe" by Frank Turner. I think that's going to the first song I play when I hit the highway after I pick up my MINI.

I had plugged my iPod in and selected an old playlist, the first song to blare out of my speakers was "Back in Black". Kinda fitting since my MINI is Midnight Black lol.

On my drive home the supercharger & exhaust note was my playlist. I'd think any British bands would be apropos for a new MINI. I also like Bob Marley, as both his music & my MINI put a huge smile on my face & get me in the right mood.

+1 on the car's natural playlist

Have to say, 'Song 2' from Blur really set the stage for me though.

Queen, absolutely! How could I forget Queen. Hmmm, maybe "Keep Yourself Alive" or "Now I'm Here" would be appropriate .

Perfect choice, but oddly one Queen song I'm not in love with LOL.
Go figure, I love "Brighton Rock, though.

I listened to Living Sacrifice's latest album when I drove mine home Go with your favourites, either that or some good break-in music if you are a stereo nerd haha.

What I love about my MINI is it is the perfect car to suite any musical mood I'm in. It totally harmonizes with everything from Mozart to Depeche Mode, Pennywise to Coltrane, The Go-Go's to Pearl Jam. Astrud Gilberto to Thievery Corporation. The MINI always styles right along with me no matter what music is playing!

I will say I find myself really liking a lot of acid jazz, chillout and trance since I got my MINI almost a couple months ago though!

I pretty much carry my entire music collection around with me (not my only copy of course) on 2 16GB thumb drives. One is mostly classical and jazz, the other is mostly pop/rock/electronic. For the morning commute I'm streaming Pacifica news through my phone. Otherwise I'm listening to something on Sirius or I'll pop in one of the thumb drives.

I do wish the USB port was located better though. A swap of drives pretty much requires coming to a stop unless there's a co-pilot present.

Now you have me thinking... I have a play list I usually listen to when I feel like listening to music, but this will be a new experience in my first MINI. I think for my first drive I will let him talk to me, and be inspired when the time is right, to get something that will be a perfect fit.

The first I played in my first car (97 t-bird) was Metallica Fuel but I think the Benny Hill theme song would be appropriate for the Mini Cooper!

I thought long and hard about the playlist I would use driving the MINI home after picking him up (I had to have something to do to pass the waiting time as he came across on the boat). It was a three hour drive, so I had to plan it accordingly.

Of all the songs on the list, the one that sent (and still sends) a rush through me and the car, thus causing a heavy foot on the gas pedal is "Human After All" by Daft Punk.

I found a copy of "On Days like these" and "Getta Bloomin' Move On" from the original Italian Job for my 1st Mini drive...

"Turbo Lover" by Judas Priest, I think is an appropriate tune for anyone with a new MCS...

I guess I didn't give it much thought compared to some of you. When I "tested" the HK system at full blast, I put on a song called "Thousandfold" from one of my favorite bands called Eluveitie (a swiss celtic folk metal band). Still impressed with the stock stereo.
