SSR Type-C 17x7.5 requiring stud conversion on R53?!

I'm purchasing a set of 17x7.5 +43 SSR Type-C wheels. Bolt pattern is obviously 4x100.. but I'm being told that I MUST convert to studs. Can someone please confirm or deny this?

I am ok with converting and installing the studs because is easier to remove and install wheels.. but I really don't want to because I will be using these SSR's with summer tires and have the stock 16" rims with Blizzak's for winter.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

It may be a length problem as the stock bolts won't fit. You can get longer bolts or best is to just get the studs. Not sure why you think the OEM wheels would be a problem.

I was told that I need to convert to the studs because the stock bolt sizes are M14? and the studs will convert it to M12 size? Does SSR offer bolt holes in M14 size? I think this may be why the stock 16" rims wouldn't fit if I converted to the smaller stud size? The stock wheel holes would be too large? I may be wrong.. I've never run into this situation with wheels before. Thanks.

What is the build date of your R53? MINI used M12 bolts until mid 2006. If your car was built before then, the SSR's should fit fine. Actually I have SSR Competition (equivalent to Type-C) on my 2006 (built in late 2005). I've heard that M14 bolts will not fit SSR Comp/Type-C.

They should work fine. You'll need centering rings because of the bore size (as with most aftermarket wheels) but otherwise they should just bolt right on.

Parts197 looks like the correct sizing.

I agree with Alex and rkw. Your car has 12mm diameter wheel lug bolts. These will fit the holes in the SSR wheels. You need the Parts197 ring for the hub. There should be no issue with the length of the stock lug bolts.

The will fit fine without studs. When you order the wheels tell them what your putting them on and they should include the correct centering rings. The centering rings go on inner center of the wheel to hold the wheel centered on the hub.

Yes. R56 and R53 have the same hub diameter.
