So I went to O'Reiley's and ordered one. It came in the next day and I picked it up. Took it home and... WRONG ONE!!! It was 1/2" too long and not wide enough by about 3/4".

I looked up the part number and it says it's for my car??? Weird so I looked up the other ones for mini"s and from the measurements of the factory one, it was a totally different part than what I had been given. Did Mini change the airbox at some point through 2007? in case you are wondering, no, it wasn't for the 07 copper s convertible (supercharged)

Has anyone else had this issue?

 

Not an 07 here, a 2010. But I run a K&N, part #33-2936...which fits perfect. I thought all the Gen2 MCS filters were the same size.

 

33-2936 is the one that matched my dimensions. 33-2386 was the one they gave me. both are for the R56, but the one you have is also for the 2011 and the countryman (2007 also).
I ended up getting a refund as I decided I would save for the JCW filter box instead. Just thought it would suck if I had some weird factory intake that was different to later models.

The 33-2386 is for the non S model. I just found it the hard way early in the week. The correct part for the N18 engine turbo is 33-2936.
