Borla Pro XS Exhaust Tips on Factory System-SOLD
NAM,
I had these tips custom welded on my factory system back in May. I've recently upgraded the exhaust to the Milltek Sport system. Does anyone have an interest in my old system with these tips? I live in Cincinnati and was hoping to find someone local because of the weight of the exhaust. I was thinking of maybe $50 for all. The other option would be to cut off the tips just after the muffler and these could be welded in place. Let me know if anyone would be interested. Here are some pics when they were on the car.

Thanks, Jason

ZAKdog,
I love it! It was pretty quiet the first day but after a few days it became more noticeable. It has that nice "British car" sound and doesn't drone at all when cruising on the highway. The only unusal thing was watching the exhaust tips move outward about a half inch when hot and back in when cold. After confirming with Stratmosphere, this was completely normal for the MINI.

>>I am not too happy with the looks of the beer can exhaust tips on my "S".
>>Where did you get yours? what did it take to install them?
>>Hans.
Hans,
The tips are Borla Pro XS tips, part# 20153 (link below) and I purchased them from 21st Century Exhaust in FL. Their sales department was great and the shipping was cheap. They can be reached at 800.276.6399. The installation was quite extensive. I have a local welding shop I've used for years and they are very good with custom work. The factory exhaust uses chrome tip covers that can be removed with an allen screw on the bottom. Once these are removed you will need to cut the brace, down the middle, holding the two exhaust pipes together. This brace will then be welded back when the new tips are installed. The new tips are too long and will need to be cut to fit in the back of the MCS. We heated the factory exhaust to separate the pipes to accomodate the width of the new tips. Once we got the length of the new tips right, and the pipes separated a bit, we were ready to weld the new ones in place. It sounds worse then it is but the end result is worth it.
