LED bulb / signal clearance | Autolumination LED review

I want to replace the two bulbs in the front turn signal housing. There's a yellow turn signal bulb and a clear running light.

I want to replace them both with LEDs, but many of the LED bulbs are longer than the originals. Does anyone know what the clearance is on these bulbs?

Here are the bulb replacements I am looking at. Feel free to comment and/or review.

The yellow signal would be replaced by a bulb from

7 Watt Eagle EYE SMT Tower
SMT Tower 120 High Powered Wide Angle SMT LEDS
Eagle Eye 5 Wide-Angle 180 degrees High-Powered 5 Watt Led + 4x super-powered SMT Leds

The white bulb would be replaced by a bulb from http://autolumination.com/194.htm .
New 5 Led SMT Tower 194 168 W5W 2825 at 10mm diameter x 32mm
New 9 Led SMT Tower II 194 168 W5W 2825 at 11mm diameter x 32mm
New 25 Led SMT Tower III 194 168 W5W 2825 at 11mm diameter x 38mm

I had LEDs in my front turn signals. There wasn't an issue with clearance, however I did have rapid blinking and didn't want to install the resistor so I just took them out.

How do you determine which load equalizer to use with the LED bulbs?
http://autolumination.com/equalizers.htm

Should you use the LED Protector as well?

I e-mailed the guy at Autolumination. Thought this info might be useful:

2004 MINI Cooper S

I want to replace the front turn signal which is a 7507 and the runnning light next to it which is 2825. They are both in a flush mount signal house that only faces forward with a flat cover.

1. Do the newer 7507 bulbs with canbus bulb-out technology still require load balancer/resister/equalizers in order to operate and not fast blink?

2. What is the brightest 2825 bulb that closesly matches factory HID lights?

3. For the brightest turn signal light, would you recommend the 7507 canbus bulbs or that new 7watt eagle eye with resister/equalizer? I understand the 7 watt eagle eye will work in the 7507 slot if you grind off one of the tabs on the side...

4. How do I determine what model resister/equalizer I need for my turn signals?

5. Do you have any other recommendations or suggestions?

Thanks

HI-

1. These will still require resistance to stop the rapid flashing.

With many flashers, leds will cause the turns signals to flash rapidly, or not flash at all.

If using leds for turn signal applications, or in vehicles with bulb-out warning systems, like Audi, Volvo, Mercedes, BMW and others, you may need to add load equalizers.

For led turn signals, you can change the flasher out using one of our new patented combination led/oem bulb flashers if we have one that fits your vehicle.

Unfortunately, there are no application charts for the flashers.

The simplest way is to match the blades of the one you have to the images on the web page to see if we have one that matches. You can find the flasher by switching on the turn signals and finding where the clicking sound is coming from.

If we do not have an led flasher that matches, use one 6 ohm load equalizer installed across the - ground wire and the + turn signal wire feeding each led bulb.

More details on load equalizers can be found at:

http://autolumination.com/equalizers.htm

2. I recommend the 194 superstar with heat sink.

3. The 7 watt is a very good bulb. The bulbs will work fine with one bayonet pin removed.

4. 6 ohm

Both the 7506 (Rear) and 7507 (Front) require the load equlizer. You can use either 3 Ohm or 6 Ohm depending if you can LEDs in only front or rear, or in all four.

2. What is the brightest 2825 bulb that closesly matches factory HID lights?

When I got my LEDs for the city lights, I used 5000k because they are not overly bllue and are closer to the kelvin temp of the OEM HIDs.

For turn signals I used these. They are super bright, crisp, and look great. I have them in front and rear.

Why does it change depending on how many LED bulbs there are? I thought the equalizer is wired in to the harness next to each bulb? 4 bulbs, 4 equalizers correct?

Has anyone used the LED protectors on this page?

The more LEDs you have blinking at once, either one (fr/rr only) or 2 (front and rear) the greater the reduction in load therefore the larger or small resister required.
