Hey Guys (and gals!)

I just reached that BLESSED point when those crappy Pirelli euforias are ready for replacement on my MCS. I definitely want to go with some non-run flats, and I'm also pretty overwhelemed by the choices out there. I live in Cleveland, so snow is definitely a consideration...BUT I've gone 1 1/2 winters on the Pirellis and haven't gotten stuck once, and my daily commute usually involves a 2 mile journey to school and back. The roads are usually taken care of too, so I honestly am more concerned with performance that m+s traction. Right now I'm impressed by the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, but I'm open to ANY other suggestions!

Thanks for the help, and for responding to this "dead horse" issue!

Brian

Ok, I was just on the Goodyear website, and realized that the Goodyear GS-D3s aren't available in 205/45, just 215/45-17....would I have any problem going from 205 to 215 on my S-Lite rims? From what I could tell, the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 (non-DSST), Pirelli P-Zero, and Yoko AVS ES100s would be my options in 205/45-17. Any suggestions????

Thanks!

Brian,

I recently purchased the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S just before winter and absolutely love them! I only put a few hundred miles on them before switching to my Nokian winter tires. The PZero Nero M+S has a 400 treadwear rating which is great if you want to get some time from these tires. Performance is there and you'll always have the comfort of having the M+S ability if you need it. They are also very quiet which was important to me. I had already purchased my winter tires and steel wheels before ordering the Pirelli's. I also live in Ohio and wanted to get my good rims off the car to avoid problems with the salt used here. You will have no problems mounting a 215/45-17 on the S-Lite wheel. I ordered the Pirelli's from TireRack and spent about $116 each.

I put the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Gs-D3 on my new 2004 MCS using the 215/45/17 size. They look great, ride great, have good treadwear rating and the Tirerack price is excellent. I have not had nay problems with mine and no rubbing on ASA AR1 wheels. The tire size change is only about 2% which is insignificant in terms of speedo, etc. I would recommend the F1's unless you want to spend more money on the SO-3 which is probably the best tire available.

D-3's are awesome, but not designed for ANY snow.

hmm....

Yeah the more I think about it, the more I convince myself that perhaps tires like the GS-D3s or the Yokos might not be ok for me in the winter. The P-Zero Nero M+S appears to be a great compromise, and will certainly give me a lot better performance in the snow AND in the summer than my eurfori@s.

Any more suggestions?
