Added White Sport Stripes To Our All Black Countryman (Pics Inside)

I wrestled with this decision for a month...but today I finally took the plunge and had white sport stripes put on our Countryman.

It was a beautiful 65 degree day here in Dallas so I got out and took a few pics:

Looks awesome. Personally, I think the sport stripes are the only ones that look good on the Countryman. The regular bonnet stripes just dont' seem to match the contour of the bonnet.

Exactly the direction I was contemplating. Looks good and you've made up my mind. Since no one else asked, I will - - - dealer or aftermarket and what did the whole shebang set you back? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks!

I ordered the stripes through the dealer. (Cost right around $250)

I had them installed by a Vehicle Lettering/Sign Shop called "New Graphics Inc." here in Dallas for $150 all cash (no tax). Come to find out they are the same company that owns Cooper Flags...so they are very familiar with doing custom Mini stuff. Took 2 hours flat to complete the install.

My original quote was for $200 but that was if I got the roof done too. Since I've got double sunroofs I decided not to do the roof, so hence the $50 price reduction.

The dealer wanted $990 for installation including roof...$700 without the roof. Hope this helps.

So by going with factory stripes and an aftermarket installer, in the end my total cost for materials and labor was $400.

Thanks. Yeah, a number of people stopped me yesterday and commented on the car. They were all confused as to what car it was. One guy even commented that it reminded him of the BMW X6. (lol)

Thanks for the props. Here are few more high resolution pics from the batch with a bit of post processing applied.

Yeah, I think you're right. I'll definitely get the windows tinted before summer.

Question

Polojankins, I have a couple of questions, I hope you don't mind. I also live in the North Texas area and was wondering where you bought your Countryman. Mini of Dallas and Moritz in Arlington seems to be the only game in town. I was wondering if you had a good buying experience? Also, I thought it was the law in Texas that you have to have both a front and back license plate, but the mini's I see around town only have a back? Thanks for your help. Also, anybody who lives in the North Texas area and might have some thoughts to share about their experiences with the local dealers, I would appreciate it.

I don't have a perspective on the local dealers because they were dragging their feet trying to figure out their lease offerings so I actually leased my countryman and went through D&M Leasing here in Dallas. My guy at D&M scoured the country to find my car and it just so happened that it was in Edmond Oklahoma 220 miles away. The dealer offered to ship the car down to Dallas, but we couldn't wait so we drove to Oklahoma to pick it up instead.

Regarding the front license plate thing...yes, it is a law here in Texas that you must have a front and rear license plate. However, if you look at most Luxury/Sports/High End Cars in the area, a large percentage of them don't have front plates. Its just a personal choice that people make. But you CAN and occasionally WILL get a ticket for it. (I got one in 2010...and it cost me $130 and my wife got a ticket two years ago) But I still am not going to put a front plate on...mainly because I don't like the look...but also because it does not take points off your license or cause your insurance to go up if you do get a ticket.

Thanks Polojankins for responding. I really want a Countryman, but it really makes me nervous with only 2 dealers in the general area. I'm used to being able to switch dealers and service departments if I don't get good customer service.

We're actually lucky to have two dealerships in the area. Many cities don't have any. And there is actually a third dealership about to open in DFW. Sewell is opening a new Mini Dealership in Plano off the toll way. Its opening in about two or three weeks I think. (March 20th or so)

I will be ordering my Countryman (Cosmic Blue) in about a week. I'm glad I came across your pictures. I have be trying to picture how the sports stripes might look on a darker Countryman. Now should I get Cosmic Blue or Black top, can't decide.

I've actually started a "Show Us Your Stripes" thread under the Interior/Exterior Customization Sub-forum. There may be some other good examples there.

Here's the link:
